Reminder to qualified UMID applicants: Upgrade to UnionBank SSS UMID ATM Pay Card today

SSS members with pending UMID ID releases may avail of free upgrade online

Union Bank of the Philippines (UnionBank) is reminding members of the Social Security System (SSS) who are qualified for a free upgrade to the UnionBank SSS UMID ATM Pay Card to avail of the offer now so they can enjoy an easy and convenient way to receive their SSS proceeds.

Announced a few months ago, the UnionBank SSS UMID ATM Pay Card is a government-issued ID card and fully functional ATM card that is linked to a UnionBank savings account, where SSS members can receive the proceeds of their benefits, loans, and refunds. The savings account doesn't require maintaining balance.

SSS members who are registered on My.SSS and have applied for the standard UMID card but have not received it yet may avail of the UnionBank SSS UMID ATM Pay Card upgrade for free. To let them know about the upgrade option, SSS also sent invitations to qualified members via email, so they may want to check their email. The upgrade will be available to all SSS members applying for the UMID card eventually.

Qualified members may upgrade their card by logging in to their My.SSS account, or register if they haven’t yet. They will then need to go to the "E-Services" tab, access the "Data Sharing Consent for UMID Pay Card" option, and give their consent to share their information with UnionBank.

Next, they must download the UnionBank Online app, which is available on the Google Play Store, Apple App Store, and Huawei AppGallery. They can also visit https://www.unionbankph.com/unionbankonline and or scan the download QR code.

On the app, they need to select the "Open an Account" option, choose "Government ID," click "SSS UMID Pay Card Account," and then click “Agree to the Terms & Conditions and Data Privacy Consent” to continue. After making sure that their SSS information is updated and correct, they will need to complete the form to open their savings account. More details are available at https://www.unionbankph.com/sss-umid.

Upgrading to the UnionBank SSS UMID ATM Pay Card comes with a few perks. Once the free upgrade is completed, funding the account with a minimum of PHP1,000 entitles the owner to a free Jollibee eGC worth P200 and a chance to win a brand-new Mitsubishi Xpander GLS sponsored by UnionBank. Account holders must fund their account on or before Feb 28, 2023 to enjoy these perks.

Because the card is linked to a UnionBank account, users will be able to enjoy fully-featured ATM transactions, as well as digital banking services and advanced features like financial goal setting and payment requests via the UnionBank Online app.

UnionBank has been a long-time partner of the government in the issuance of two-in-one ID and pay cards that have benefited countless Filipinos over the years, and the new UnionBank SSS UMID ATM Pay Card is just one of the many innovative offers that have come from its partnerships with government agencies like the SSS and the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), to name a few.

Withdrawing Cash Now Possible at 1,000 7-Eleven Stores

PSC in partnership with Seven Bank Ltd. of Japan, installs additional ATMs at 7-Eleven stores in NCR and major areas in Southern Luzon, making convenient cash transactions possible for more customers.

Withdrawing cash is now more convenient than ever as 7-Eleven has expanded its ATM network to a total of 1,000 stores in Metro Manila, Cavite, and Laguna. The presence of these additional ATMs allows more people to access their cash safely, conveniently, 24/7. Customers need not line up at the overcrowded bank and mall ATMs, especially with the release of 13th-month pay and year-end bonuses this holiday season.

“Installing ATMs in more stores is one of the key pillars of our Convenience Plus strategy. Convenience Plus has been our approach to meeting more customer needs since the start of this pandemic. Our stores now offer not only a wider assortment of merchandise, but we are also leveraging our store network to offer bills payments, e-wallet cash-ins, and other financial services to serve our communities better,” said Mr. Jose Victor Paterno, President and CEO, Philippine Seven Corporation (PSC).

By the end of this year, PSC, in partnership with Pito AxM Platform, Inc. (PAPI), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Seven Bank Ltd. of Japan, shall have its ATMs activated in 1,200 7-Eleven stores in NCR and major markets in Luzon. By the end of 2022, the cash-recycler ATMs will be available in the cities of Cebu, CDO and Davao allowing the alliance of the two companies to increase its presence in the underserved segments of the market.

“The ATMs provide an innovative solution to the cash management requirements of our 7-Eleven stores. The sales are deposited by our store operators and the ATMs “recycle” the cash to fund withdrawals of the customers of the different banks. This also creates a lot of value to the individual bank account owners because of the convenience of having ATMs available 24/7 in a safe and secured location,” said Mr. Lawrence De Leon, PSC Head of Finance.

Mr. Tsuneo Nagashima, Chairman of PAPI stated “We are very grateful to PSC and our many other partners for their support in reaching this milestone of 1,000 ATMs installed. Yet this is just the beginning. We look forward to delivering the safety and convenience of our ATM service in many more 7-Eleven stores as we grow the install base.”

Mr. Masanori Sakaguchi, President of PAPI mentioned “The more we install ATMs, the higher the expectations of our customers grow. i2i Mobile ATM marks first year of providing digitally-enabled access to funds to communities

i2i, the nation’s fastest growing payments and cash disbursement network, celebrates the first anniversary since the launch of its groundbreaking Mobile ATM solution. Developed and operated by UBX, UnionBank’s fintech spin-off, the i2i platform digitally enables financial institutions and other community based financial service providers to drive financial inclusion in the country.

i2i Mobile ATM was a timely response to the pandemic and the need to digitally enable distribution and access to funds. In the last 6 months of 2020, i2i Mobile ATM volumes increased 3000% monthly. In 2021, i2i kicked off the year by welcoming over 1,300 new financial service providers and agents to the network via a joint venture with the Irish financial services technology giant Fexco.

Robert Serdena, the owner of Rodhess Ticketing and Travel Services, i2i Mobile ATM’s first partner, said“Salamat nalang at nakilala ko si i2i Mobile ATM. Malaking naitulong nito sa aking pangkabuhayan. Subalit hindi lamang sa pangkabuhayan, malaking tulong din ito sa aking mga kabarangay dahil hindi na nila kailangan mag-biyahe ng lima hanggang sampung kilometro para mag-withdraw sa pinakamalapit na ATM dito sa aming lugar.”

i2i Mobile ATM provided significant support to communities and businesses during the pandemic. It brings ATM services to the community while providing an additional source of income for small businesses. Reducing travel and bringing cash distribution closer to home means safer access to funds while saving ATM customers time and money.

One of i2i Mobile ATM’s sari-sari store owner partners, Elsie Dizon, said “Natutuwa ako kasi kahit wala pa akong isang buwan, nadagdagan ‘yung customers ko. At siyempre dahil naka-withdraw na sila, may pera na sila, namimili din sila ng ilang items sa tindahan ko. Masaya din sila kasi merong mas malapit at kahit sa ibang barangay, dito rin sila nagwi-withdraw sa akin. Nagpapasalamat ako sa i2i Mobile ATM dahil nadagdagan ang kabuhayan ko.”

As community-based financial service providers, i2i Mobile ATM partners are essential for many, including pensioners. This at-risk population cannot travel to nearby towns or the nearest ATM, either of which could be several kilometers away. i2i Mobile ATM provides safer access to DSWD 4Ps & SAP program beneficiaries closer to home in far-flung or remote areas. At the same time, small businesses directly affected by the quarantine like travel & tour operators, sari-sari stores and carinderias have found an alternative line of business in the midst of the pandemic. i2i Mobile ATM has augmented the incomes of these entrepreneurs and SMEs who may now recycle otherwise idle liquidity for an additional source of revenue.

More Filipino business owners are signing up for i2i Mobile ATM for additional income. The i2i team conducts webinars every 2 weeks to assist interested business owners.

7-Eleven Makes Bank Transactions Convenient With 320 Cash-Recycing ATMs

Now you don’t need to travel far to your bank’s ATM whenever you need to deposit or withdraw cash —you can do your cash withdrawal and balance inquiry ATM transactions at 7-Eleven stores in Metro Manila and Cavite starting this March.

This convenience is made possible by Philippine Seven Corporation (PSC), the exclusive licensor of 7-Eleven in the Philippines, in partnership with Pito AxM Platform, Inc. (PAPI), a Philippine subsidiary of Seven Bank, Ltd. of Japan (Seven Bank).

The ATMs in 7-Eleven, operated by PAPI, are cash-recycling ATMs, which means customers can withdraw or deposit cash in real-time with any of its partner banks. Customers can now withdraw cash while the deposit functionality of the ATMs will be activated in the near future. The ATMs also have a unique feature of adapting the customer interface screen to that of the partner bank and thus providing a familiar, easy-to-use interface for users.
As of this publication, BDO Unibank account holders can withdraw cash and perform balance inquiries free of charge from the ATMs in 7-Eleven stores. Other bank account holders, through BANCNET, can also do withdrawal and balance inquiry transactions subject to ATM fees charged by their banks. PAPI plans to expand the number of partner banks in the near future to allow more convenient and cost-efficient banking services to more customers.

By the first week of March, customers can already conduct their bank transactions in more than thirty (30) 7-Eleven stores in NCR. PAPI and PSC aim to install ATMs in at least 320 stores by the end of the first half of 2021. This number will gradually increase throughout the year, with the end goal of covering the majority of 7-Eleven stores in the future.

Seven Bank, which operates more than 25,000 ATMs in Japan, established PAPI in April 2019 to promote its ATM business in the country. In February 2020, PAPI struck a business alliance with PSC, intending to install, operate, and maintain ATMs at 7-Eleven stores in the Philippines.

PSC operates the largest convenience store network in the country. It has 2,978 stores in the Philippines as of December 31, 2020.

Globe GCash beep Mastercard, an "everyday all-in-one card" payment solution

G-Xchange, Inc President and CEO Xavier Marzan (left) and MasterCard Country Manager Poch Villa-Real (right) with a giant rendition of the new GCash beep MasterCard during its official media launch held at the Aracama Restaurant, Bonifacio Global City on November 16, 2015.
More than a million Filipinos riding the Light Rail Transit (LRT) and Metro Rail Transit (MRT) daily can finally enjoy the combined convenience of paying for their MRT and LRT fares plus engaging in cashless shopping and bills payments with the new GCash beep Mastercard.

Filipinos without credit cards can now pay for their online transactions both here and overseas, as well as pay for MRT/LRT rides with a new product from Globe.

GCash beep Mastercard is the first value-added card to be beep ready, expected to serve as an “everyday-all-in-one” card which functions as an ATM card for cash withdrawals, a prepaid card for purchases, and a beep card for daily MRT/LRT commute.

"Here in the Philippines, three out of four adults do not have bank accounts. And even within the banked population, there are hugely underserved segments with only 3% credit card penetration. We at GCash are enabling this market with financial services such as GCash beep MasterCard to give them all the convenience of cashless shopping and payment, among other benefits,” said Xavier Marzan, President and CEO of G-Xchange Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Globe Telecom, which operates GCash.

“We are very pleased with our collaboration with GXI on the launch of the new GCash beep MasterCard. As a valued MasterCard member, all GCash beep MasterCard users will now have access to over 40 million MasterCard merchant locations and ATMs worldwide. This card certainly provides a powerful tool to consumers in the Philippines, enhancing their daily lives given their expanding purchasing needs locally, overseas and in the digital space,” said Poch Villa-Real, MasterCard country head.

GCash beep MasterCard is the first value-added card to be beep ready. Since the start of September 2015, GCash started selling GCash beep MasterCard in parallel with the expansion of the tap payment facilities in various MRT/LRT stations. beep is the authorized reloadable electronic payment under the unified LRT/MRT ticket system which started full implementation on October this year. It is operated by AF Payments Incorporated primarily owned by Ayala Corporation and Metro Pacific Investments Corporation.

"Making the lives of Filipinos a lot easier and better through technology is always a priority. Thus, we made sure that the beep functionality is part of the GCash Mastercard. With it, commuters don't need to line up every time they ride the MRT or LRT which takes a long time, because with the GCash beep Mastercard they can purchase their fare like a stored value card," added Marzan

The tap, swipe and shop feature also makes it easy for customers to just tap the card to pay for their fares, swipe their card for purchases and even shop online for apps and online goods. The GCash beep Mastercard is definitely the commuter's everyday all-in-one card.

Globe GCash beep Mastercard is not only a reloadable contactless tap and go card for LRT/MRT passengers but is also accepted as a payment option in popular online shopping sites and in almost 33 million establishments worldwide which recognize the Mastercard brand.

At the same time, because it has a GCash account, it can be used to buy prepaid Globe/TM phone load, send money to any Globe/TM user for free, receive remittance, and even withdraw cash from any automated teller machine (ATM). Much more, GCash beep Mastercard allows balance and transaction monitoring to ensure that everything is properly recorded.

The GCash beep MasterCard are available at 35 selected Globe Stores nationwide and roving caravans for oly P150. It includes a free prepaid Globe SIM card and P30 in GCash load. The personalized GCash beep Mastercard can be ready in just a few minutes once a valid ID is presented.

Funds for the card may be loaded by cashing in at any of the 10,000 GCash outlets nationwide. These outlets include all Globe Stores, 7-11 convenience stores, SM Department Stores, Puregold Supermarkets and pawnshops such as Tambunting and Villarica, among others.

In addition, GCash subscribers can also use mobile and online banking to fund their Gcash beep MasterCard.

To reload the beep account, customers just need to place the GCash beep Mastercard on top of the Stored Value Card reader of the Ticket Vending Machine at any LRT/MRT station, choose the Stored Value option on the screen, insert the corresponding amount of money on the slot provided, and wait for the transaction receipt to come out.

GCash beep Mastercard may be purchased at various caravans (see www.globe.com.ph/gcash for details) for only P150 and may retain a maximum beep stored value of P10,000 valid for 5 years. The GCash wallet, meanwhile, may accommodate as much as P100,000.

Since GCash beep MasterCard is powered by GCash, cardholders can also enjoy other features and benefits. As a cardholder with a GCash account, customers may easily buy discounted prepaid Globe/TM phone load, send money to any Globe/TM user for free, receive remittances, pay bills and even withdraw cash from any automated teller machine (ATM) worldwide.

Furthermore, with GCash, customers can also check their GCash balance anytime and monitor all their transactions.
