"My Husband, My Hero": Father's Day Story by Goldilocks

Our Fathers play many roles in our lives. He is our friend, confidant, protector and constant moral support. Because of this, our dads will forever hold a special place in our hearts. 

For Army Reservist Rolan King J. Tiongson, working during the COVID-19 Pandemic as a Frontliner, means that he has to divide his time equally between his family and his job. 

“He always reports to duty from Monday to Saturday but makes sure Sunday is family time. He also cooks us dinner whenever he gets home from duty.” Rosemarie, Rolan’s wife, explains.

When asked to describe her husband, Rosemarie jokingly said 

"My husband is strict but very loving and caring. Before the pandemic, our bonding would be to go to church then the mall. On occasions, we would even go out of town."

“I consider him a blessing to us; he is such a great father and husband. He always puts his family first."

Sam Etcuban, a Correctional Officer and Registered Nurse who works at the Bureau of Corrections as a COVID – 19 Nurse finds the strength to continue forward thanks to the encouragement of his loving wife. 

"My wife is my greatest supporter and number one fan," Sam gushed when asked about how he would describe his wife. 

"We love to watch movies and go to the grocery together," he added. However, with the new normal settling in, Sam now must deal with a new reality.

"Now, I'm doing all these activities alone due to COVID. I would rather expose myself outside since my body is stronger," but that does not stop Sam's wife from encouraging him to the best of her ability "she prepares everything I need before my shift starts, and she will never forget to remind me how much she loves me," he concluded. The simple boost of encouragement is all Sam needs to get through his shift, which often lasts for weeks at a time.

As part of its 50th Anniversary, Goldilocks formally launched its first interactive smartphone app called Sweet Attack.

Once the app is downloaded, players use their phone cameras to scan any Goldilocks 50th anniversary cake logo to start the game. The premise is as simple as it is intuitive: using the touchscreen function, players must protect a delicious cake from a swarm of hungry ants by squashing them with their fingers.

Due its dynamic gameplay, charming graphics, and easy interface, it is not surprising that Sweet Attack has become a remarkable success all over the country.

Last December 8, 2016,  Sweet Attack Battle Tournament happened at Goldilocks, SM Megamall, the apps highest scorers from the past month were invited to compete among themselves for the chance to win cash prizes and gift certificates from Goldilocks.
