Vivian Velez leads "ISAng Pilipinas", a coalition pushes the Isko Moreno - Sara Duterte tandem

Veteran actress and the current director-general of the Film Academy of the Philippines (FAP), Vivian Velez
spearheaded the launch of a coalition called "ISAng Pilipinas" held at Club Filipino, San Juan City, Wednesday, March 9.
Velez, the lead convenor of the "ISAng Pilipinas" (an acronym for the first names of Moreno and Duterte) said the group’s choice of Moreno and Duterte was a result of a long vetting process of presidential and vice-presidential candidates.

Velez said that "ISAng Pilipinas" is a private initiative and not officially endorsed by the President. Supporters of President Rodrigo Duterte and Manila Mayor Isko Moreno formed a coalition, an alliance backing the tandem of Moreno and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte Carpio, for the upcoming elections.

Velez added that the Manila chief executive is the best choice among all presidential candidates.

One of the main reasons was, they are both Mayors, who know how to govern anything (especially crisis) to have a good nation.

“I think the mayors are the best people to run this country especially when we have a crisis,” said Velez

Along with film producer Edith Fider who released the recent biopic of Moreno, Velez, also said she chose Moreno mainly because of his clear platform in supporting the recovery of the film and allied entertainment industry, which is not resonant in other candidates’ programs of the government.

"Yan ang pinanghahawakan ko kaya sinusuportahan ko si Isko,” Velez said.

Acting boy wonder Raikko Mateo shines in the motion picture “YORME: The Isko Domagoso Story"

Produced by Saranggola Media Productions and distributed by Viva Films, the movie centers and highlights on the most important chapters in the life of Francisco “Isko” Domagoso, as a kid who grew up in the slums of Tondo who at an early age, knew the importance and value of hard-earned money and education.

His teen years wherein he experienced bullying, name-calling and rejection because of his necessitous condition and how this truth-challenged him to strive for a better life and how lady luck finally smiled at him when he became a teen-star in That’s Entrainment and the struggles and successes as movie star. His life as a politician is also in the movie, the tribulations and setbacks, the triumphs and victories of a dreamer who realized his aspirations.

Raikko, on portraying Isko as a boy says: “My initial reaction when I found out that I was cast as Isko, of course I was very happy because I was excited to portray the life of Sir Isko because I know there is so much goodness about him that will inspire many.”

“It was challenging to know that I will portray his life as a young boy, during the time of lime when he and his family was in their struggling stage,” Mateo carries on. “I prepared by feeling and understanding, and giving the truth needed, especially how Sir Isko as a boy, sees the condition at that time.”

Portraying the teen Isko is Mc Coy de Leon. Filling in the shoes of Domagoso as a politician is Xian Lim.

Ramon Christopher Gutierrez and Tina Paner play as the parents of Isko. Jestoni Alarcon essays Domagoso discoverer and manager, Wowie Roxas. Janno Gibbs stars as the star maker and the legend that was German Moreno. MJ Lastimosa appears as the wife of Isko.

Raiko declares: “The biggest lesson I gained from doing Sir Isko is pag gusto may parran, pag ayaw may dahilan. Si Sir Isko, gusto niyang makatulong sa kanyang magulang. Gusto niyang magkakita para sa kanyang pamilya. Kaya nagsumikap po siya.”

“You should watch the movie because it is inspiring,” concludes Raikko Mateo, “Maraming matutuhang aral, lalo na nga’t hindi madali ang buhay na pinagsimulan at pinagdaanan ni Sir Isko. He is living proof that dreams do come true if you work hard, pray and put love in every thing that you do.”

“Yorme” The Isko Domagoso Story, opens in cinemas this December 1.

Our goal is to provide the entire digital ecosystem of Globe for Manileños to enjoy their digital lifestyle,” he revealed as he stressed that the collaboration with the City of Manila is a first step in contributing to the city’s digital transformation initiatives.

Cu also signified intention to improve the Globe network in the city to enable its digitalization. ”We need to build additional 100 wireless sites to improve the signal in Manila,” Cu said.

Globe also has several ongoing corporate social responsibility initiatives as part of its sustainability program directly benefited Manileños, such as the Globe Plastic Xchange program held in Brgy. 455 last September 14 where single use plastics were collected in exchange for rewards points, turnover of information and communication technologies equipment and a computer lab to Manila Science High School, roll-out of Globe‘s Digital Thumbprint Program (DTP) to Manila Science High School students in 2016 to teach them responsible use of the internet and which will be adopted in the curriculum of the Department of Education for all public schools including those in Manila City, and Globe’s participation in the Manila Bay coastal clean-up with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources this September 21.

GoWiFi continues its expansion plans nationwide, particularly in high-traffic areas like malls, hospitals, and schools to make high-quality internet connection accessible and affordable to more Filipinos.
