Celebrity guests talk about Mental Health in 2nd BRATS on July 25

Following its successful launch last month, BRATS (Boy R. Abunda Talk Series) is holding another interesting round of sharing life stories from guest speakers, interacting with the audience and delivering inspiring message from Boy Abunda on July 25, 7 p.m., at the Satin Room 2 of Seda Vertis North.

BRATS will focus on the topic about Mental Health in an aim to encourage people to speak up about their own experiences and share their points of view with individuals who may be struggling to explain what they are going through. According to mentalhealth.gov, Mental Health includes our emotional, psychological and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others and make choices. If one experiences mental health problems, his thinking, mood and behavior could be affected.

Just recently, news involving the suicide deaths of fashion designer Kate Spade and chef, author and TV host Anthony Bourdain shocked the world. The cause of the disheartening act was linked to depression. No one knew what was going through inside of them days or even hours before they cut their lives short.

What's best for any individual is to never be ashamed to openly talk about how he/she feels and share what goes through the mind to identify early on the source of the problem.

As what Boy said in his BRATS opening remarks, people need to talk to each other. "We need to touch each other's lives. We need to listen to each other. We are in a wired generation. One of our goals is to go back to the basics. To enjoy laughter, aspirations and conversations. And it should be experienced live."

In BRATS: Mental Health, guest speakers Miss International 2016 Kylie Versoza, actress and model Jasmine Curtis Smith, actress and screen writer Bela Padilla, NGO advocate Quennie Maravillas and student Nykko Bautista are ready to share their own stories with the audience and listen to what anyone wants to say without the need to ask for anybody's permission.

Young actress and model Jasmine Curtis-Smith leads the cast of Philippine's adaptation of Korean soap teleseries "My Fair Lady." Having proven her mettle in film, television and most recently, theater, actress Jasmine continues to take on challenging projects that further enhance her standout acting skills.

The upcoming romantic comedy series, “My Fair Lady,” the Filipino adaptation of the 2009 hit Koreanovela will premiere September 14, 2015, Monday exclusively on TV5.

Following a couple of “Wattpad Presents” mini-series episodes, Jasmine is once again headlining her own regular series, this time as the title role in “My Fair Lady.”

The story :
Jasmine plays Audrey Tiuseco, the richest “it” girl in the Philippines. Audrey is the heiress of Tiuseco Land, a continuously growing corporation with a diverse business profile that includes farming, agricultural technology, and now venturing into shopping and lifestyle malls.
As expected of anyone coming from a prominent family, Audrey is blessed with beauty, intelligence and a very regal demeanor. But because she lost both of her parents at a very young age, Audrey also grew up to be a major pain in the neck to everyone from her grandfather, Lolo Matteo (Eddie Gutierrez) to her personal assistants who are constantly at her beck and call.
That was until she finally meets her match in Hero (Vin Abrenica), her new all-in-one assistant who is just as temperamental as she is and is probably the only one who is not afraid of her.
The plot further thickens when Audrey meets Benjie (Luis Alandy), a kind-hearted environmentalist who bears a striking resemblance to her ex-boyfriend who cheated on her and who she is not totally over with.
But that’s not all. Audrey will soon find herself in a situation where she will need Hero in order to solve a very important mystery. Her very own future depends on that mystery’s solution.

“For the most, the local version stayed faithful to the original materials save for very few tweaks which the Philippine producers felt was important in order to make the series more relatable for Pinoy viewers,” says Noel C. Lorenzana - TV5 President and CEO.

With its perfect balance of comedy, drama and mystery, “My Fair Lady” is an ideal vehicle that will allow Jasmine to show a wide range of emotions and allow her to showcase her depth as an actress.

“My Fair Lady” directed by Ricky Rivero, with a stellar cast that also includes Joross Gamboa, Chanel Morales, Yayo Aguila, DJ Durano, Jenny Miller, Katrina Legaspi and the return of actress Marjorie Barretto to television.

The show will premiere September 14, 2015, Monday exclusively on TV5, will air weekdays at 9:30pm for 30- minutes.

#MMFF2014: Bonifacio Ang Unang Pangulo

This is a film that truly capture our patriotism, a story of a noble hero - Andres Bonifacio.

The true story of Andres Bonifacio, a man who rose as a leader in the fight against the Spanish oppressors, and would gain the enmity of even those fighting for the same cause.

Andrés Bonifacio y de Castro (November 30, 1863 – May 10, 1897) was a Filipino nationalist and revolutionary leader. He is often called "the Father of the Philippine Revolution". He was a founder and later Supremo ("supreme leader") of the Kataas-taasan, Kagalang-galangang Katipunan ng mga Anak ng Bayan or simply and more popularly called Katipunan, a movement which sought the independence of the Philippines from Spanish colonial rule and started the Philippine Revolution. He is considered a de facto national hero of the Philippines, and is also considered by some Filipino historians to be the first President of the Philippines (through the revolutionary government he established), but officially he is not recognized as such. --- From Wikipedia

Directed by Enzo Williams and stars Robin Padilla, Vina Morales, Daniel Padilla, Jasmine Curtis-Smith, Eddie Garcia, Jericho Rosales, Rommel Padilla, RJ Padilla, Isabel Oli, Ping Medina, Joem Bascon, Cholo Barretto, Jun-Jun Quintana and Isko Moreno.

Actor Robin Padilla, who portrays the titular character Andres Bonifacio, says he hopes to show, through the film, that there was more to the revolutionary hero than being brave and brash, qualities that most people associate with the beloved historical figure.

Vina Morales plays as Andres Bonifacio's second wife, Gregoria de Jesus. Jericho Rosales portrays Jose Rizal.

“Bonifacio was also smart, loving and prayerful. Before he became leader, he was a follower,” Robin shares.

Here's a significant epic movie that we should not miss this season, recommended especially to the students.

The suspence drama series stars Jasmine Curtis Smith who plays a fictional version of herself: an indie actress who is on the verge of becoming a mainstream celebrity. A creation of award-winning advertising agency Ace Saatchi & Saatchi, in partnership with Unitel and TV5, ‘Jasmine’ brings the story to life 24/7 by also making its characters exist online—and in person.

One example is how supporting character Wendell Bautista, a famous entertainment blogger and friend of Jasmine’s on the show, has an actual blog, Facebook Page, and Twitter and Instagramaccounts—all of which are regularly updated. Wendell has even appeared in blogger and fan events to support Jasmine’s endeavors.

Then there’s Maskara, who takes cyberstalking to a new level, and displays his love for Jasmine in his digital shrine: jasmineallmine.com.
