So Fresh, The Best of 2014

2014: A YEAR OF FRESH HITS

Sony Music Entertainment and Universal Music joined forces to cook up the year’s freshest hits compilation release so aptly entitled So Fresh, The Best of 2014, clamping up 20 big-shot songs including Billboard Hot 100 #1s such as Miley Cyrus, Meghan Trainor, John Legend, Pharrell Williams and MAGIC! Now it couldn’t get any fresher than that!

Running for more than 70 minutes, the CD packs in 20 speaker juices including new-world hotness anthem “All About That Bass” from 2014 breakthrough artist Meghan Trainor, as well as girl-power collaborations “Problem” by Ariana Grande feat. Iggy Azalea, “Black Widow” by Iggy Azalea feat. Rita Ora, and the Jessie J- Ariana Grande-Nicki Minaj airwave buster “Bang Bang”. Numbering in more of the dance floor hits, it also features tracks from DJs Calvin Harris with “Summer” and Avicii with EDM-country crossover “Hey Brother”, plus certified dance tracks “Wild Wild Love” (Pitbull feat. G.R.L.), “Do What U Want” (Lady Gaga feat. R. Kelly) and “This Is How We Do” (Katy Perry).

Male musers won’t get disappointed as bands like MAGIC! reel in household staple “Rude” and Maroon 5 with “Maps”. Pop prince Justin Timberlake is also featured with “Not A Bad Thing”, and newcomer Sam Smith with “I’m Not The Only One” from his first album that came out this year. Boybands are also in line as “Story Of My Life” by One Direction and “She Looks So Perfect” by 5 Seconds of Summer are counted on the track list.

So Fresh throws down every now and then too with slow tunes spread all throughout: the overtly heated “Wrecking Ball” by Miley Cyrus, the comeback classic of John Legend “All of Me”, and Begin Again movie theme “Lost Stars” by Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine.

Instant classics such as “Happy (from Despicable Me 2)” by Pharrell Williams and “Love Never Felt So Good”, a posthumous virtual duet by pop legend Michael Jackson with Justin Timberlake, raise the bar for other concurrent various artist releases.

By and large, the bravado of So Fresh is in its qualitative AND quantitative collection. This 20-track assembly is massive enough to stir up anticipation on what could be a really, really good year ahead in music...and what could be a very, very good compilation franchise.

Katy Perry : Part of Me in 3D

The first woman in music history to produce five Number One singles off of one album, Katy Perry has scaled the heights of pop music stardom few have reached before her.  So when the artist invited two young filmmakers to tag along (and “catch everything on film—nothing off-limits”) as she circled the globe on her record-breaking “California Dreams Tour,” she thought it might produce something of interest to her legions of fans.  But it proved to be bigger than anyone could have predicted.

The result is the 3D movie music event of the summer—Katy Perry: Part of Me—a backstage pass, front row seat and intimate look at the fun, glamorous, heartbreaking, inspiring, crazy, magical, passionate and honest mad diary of Katy herself.

This is an intimate, fly-on-the-wall portrait of a natural born performer hitting the very peak of global popularity—the unflinching and ever-present cameras reveal the highs and the lows of Perry’s extraordinary trek, both personally and professionally.
The genesis of the project lies with the artist herself:
“I could instinctively feel that something important was about to happen that year—it felt like this big wave was coming, and it felt like it was going to be a long one.  So, I reached out to two filmmakers and said, ‘Hi, guys, I’d like to you come on the road and document the ride.’”

That ride was a year long world tour – selling out 124 arena shows – across the United States, Europe, South America and the Far East, and cameras were able to not only capture the palpable excitement and fun of her live concerts, but also to follow Perry back to the ‘reality’ of her day-to-day life, away from the stage lights and candy-colored costumes.  Frank interviews with those who perhaps know the real Katy best—her family and her assembled family of “Team Perry”—offer glimpses into Perry’s background, as well as create a picture of a woman giving her all onstage…while pressing personal challenges await offstage.
Per Katy:
“This movie is a journey.  Last year, I had a year I’ll never be able to re-create…amazing highs and some big lows, but that’s life.  Everyone goes through the good and the bad, but it makes you stronger.  But no matter what, as with my live concerts, my ultimate goal with this movie is to make people smile.”

“Katy Perry : Part of Me” is released and distributed by United International Pictures through Solar Entertainment Corp. Katy Perry albums are available in the Philippines from PolyEast Records.

Katy Perry on the cover of Parade Magazine July Issue: She Celebrates her Imperfect Independence

Katy Perry has been everywhere lately promoting her new movie Part Of Me, celebrates her imperfect independence and now her  purple hair are appearing on the cover of Parade Magazine
Katy Perry on the red carpet for her premiere of her film "Part of Me" in Los Angeles.
Dressed to outdo her personalized pink carpet in a spectacular deep red velvet gown, Katy showed up for the premiere of her new docu-film Katy Perry: Part of Me in L.A. looking like a page out of a glossy glamour magazine.

The "Fireworks" singer showed off her her patriotic theme comes from her celebration of her own independence after her movie has released and her new found outlook on life after her split from Russell Brand.
Check out snippets from the interview below.
On why her breakup needed to be acknowledged in the film:
“I think if people walked out of the theater and that was completely avoided, they would be like, ‘Well, there’s an elephant in the room that’s still there.’ I like to go out there looking like a strong woman, because I am strong. But I am also a woman who goes through all kinds of problems and highs and lows. I wanted to show the complete spectrum.”
Perry’s musical collaborator Bonnie McKee says:
“When we wrote ‘Teenage Dream,’ it was really about your first love and how magical that is. I think Russell made her feel that way again, and she felt she had found the person she was going to spend the rest of her life with. And when that didn’t turn out to be what she’d hoped, it kind of made sense to talk about waking up.”
On working the ups and downs of her life into her music:
“With songs, I’ve always pledged to be honest. I write my songs because I’ve lived them.”
On the behind-the-scenes moments in her 3-D concert film Katy Perry: Part of Me:
“There are a lot of things that are personally uncomfortable to show, especially me without makeup and completely bloated or crying. But I’ve realized that it’s time for me to show my audience that you don’t have to be perfect to achieve your dreams. Because nobody relates to being perfect. … I’m okay with having bad dance moves. I’m okay with having horrible lower teeth. That’s what makes me me, and for some reason it’s worked out all right.”
Katy gives us her thoughts on President Obama’s support of same-sex marriage, saying:
“I was really happy; I probably went down to West Hollywood and had a shot. I came from a different mind-set growing up, and my mind has changed. My viewpoint on all these things—equality for women, the choice to love anyone you want—hopefully, we will look back at this moment and think like we do now concerning [other] civil rights issues. We’ll just shake our heads in disbelief, saying, ‘Thank God we’ve evolved.’ That would be my prayer for the future.”
Katy shares her appreciation for being a bred American, saying:
“Not to sound overly cheesy but I really appreciate the freedom we have in America—especially as a female.”

Katy Perry's 'Teenage Dream' is certified Platinum in the Philippines

International Pop Star Katy Perry finished the success of her CALIFORNIA DREAMS Concert Tour in the Philippines where she sashayed her massive tunes in a blue wig, peacock feathers and all that glitz and glamorous outfit and started 2012 with a firework. However, the 27-year-old singer-songwriter has truly gotten her gift from her Pinoy fans because her ‘Teenage Dream’ album has finally been certified platinum in the Philippines.
Handed out by Polyeast Records led by it’s Operations Manager Mr. Jesmon Chua, the official licensee of EMI Music International in the country, Katy Perry accepted her platinum award after her show last January 22, 2012 at the SM Mall of Asia Concert Grounds. EMI Music and Polyeast Records are also delighted to announce that after three years of Katy chart dominance, second album‘Teenage Dream spawned a record-breaking five #1 singles on the Hot 100 and earned Katy Perry the title of being the only female artist to achieve that feat as she matched Michael Jackson’s similar historic accomplishment with his ‘Bad’ album in 1988. The latest single “The One That Got Away” might also have a chance to the first six Hot 100 chart-toppers and a possibility to break Michael Jackson’s record.
Bringing the total hauls to more than 30, 000 copies sold in the Philippines, songs that did it for Teenage Dream were the radio-favourite “Teenage Dream”,”T.G.I.F. (Last Friday Night),” which joined “California Gurls,” the title track, “Firework” and “E.T.” on Katy’s hit parade. The sugary pop princess first graced Manila in November 2009with a sold-out concert performing her peppy, irresistible songs from the debut album “One of The Boys.”
Recently, ‘Teenage Dream’ was nominated at the 2011 Grammy Awards ceremony for Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album. Katy Perry has also been nominated  for three American Music Awards, including Artist of the Year.
You can still get Katy Perry’s award-winning albums "One of the Boys" and "Teenage Dream"  still available in all record bars nationwide released by Polyeast Records.
