Join Wally Watthead, his best friend Simon the Simcard and leading lady Polly the Picture, as they try to find out: where did Wally’s light go?

In this children’s show devised by magician Janne Raudaskoski, lead character Wally Watthead levitates, shrinks and grows right before your very eyes !

Raudaskoski not only does magic tricks, but also acts onstage with multi-media characters such as screen-projected Polly Picture, played by Tuija Nuojua Raudaskoski, and an interactive robot-like mascot of Simon the Simcard, voiced by Jonathan Hutchings.

Wally Watthead and his Lost Glow combines magic, clowning, mime, black light theatre, video, various special effects, and plenty of laughs for kids, parents -- and even grandparents -- to enjoy!

Once again, the PETA Theater Center flips the cliché “all the world’s a stage” through its latest offerings, and becomes ‘a stage to all the world’ by hosting unique international performances such as Finland’s Wally Watthead and his Lost Glow.

Safeguard officially launches Derma Sense

Safeguard introduces Derma Sense, its first-ever premium line of acne solution products. The brand unveils this latest innovation in collaboration with the Philippine Educational Theatre Association (PETA) in a theater production dubbed “Hashtag: Pimples Anonymous,” an “informance” or information performance that explores teens’ stories of physical and psychological struggles against pimples and how they’re able to overcome these situations.

As part of its commitment in promoting health and hygiene education among Filipino families, Safeguard officially launches Derma Sense to help teens face up against acne.

Safeguard Derma Sense leverages Safeguard’s expertise in skin health and antimicrobial cleansing with the launch of a dermatologically tested line of face and body bars and washes that are proven to help visibly reduce acne in 89% of users.

“Bacteria are a critical root cause of acne and the first step in managing mild to moderate acne is keeping skin protected from acne-causing bacteria through regular cleansing of the skin using an antimicrobial soap,” shares Dr. Ma. Pilar Lagdameo-Leuenberger, Fellow of Philippine Dermatological Society.

“Safeguard Derma Sense recognizes that the effects of acne can be more than just physical, and that the brand has a role to play in empowering consumers, especially Moms and their teens, in facing up to acne,” Maro Torres, Brand Manager for Safeguard, said.

Acne vulgaris, also known as acne or red spots, is the most common skin disease worldwide. In a white paper released by the Skin Health Alliance, prevalence of self-reported acne among individuals age 15-25 is documented to be as high as 91%. The study further stresses possible emotional and psychological effects, to quote: “There is probably no single disease which causes more psychic trauma, more maladjustment between parents and children, more general insecurity and feeling of inferiority and greater sums of psychic suffering than does acne vulgaris.”

Dr. Susan Estanislao, Counseling Psychologist from the De La Salle University Manila, thus reinforces “the need for creating an empowering atmosphere that will help teens overcome these struggles.”

Safeguard Derma Sense advocates the adoption of a regular cleansing regimen with a well-tolerated antimicrobial soap that helps reduce levels of skin bacteria and play a part in early acne management. More importantly, it commits to helping empower parents and teens #FaceUp to acne through resources that aim to pioneer the understanding on the causes, consequences and potential treatment of acne.

The 47th Season of PETA kicks off !

Here's a fun and  exciting theater treats for 2014!  After the box office success of Philippine Educational Theater Association’s (PETA) Rak of Aegis, PETA opens its new theater season with the return of the hit rock-comedy musical to the stage.
Rak of Aegis features the chart-topping Aegis hits such as “Halik,” “Sinta,” “Luha” and “Basang Basa sa Ulan,” rearranged by musical director Myke Salomon. Rak of Aegis is a musical filled with visual spectacle showcasing the Pinoy’s natural love for music and innate resilience in the face of calamity. The musical runs for 67 shows from June 20- August 31, 2014.
PETA also offers a new take on Florante at Laura with Florante at Laura Remastered, a Balagtasan battle inspired performance that infuses the classic text with gritty hip-hop humor and rippin’ rhymes. The story follows two aspiring wordsmiths, Victor, a private school boy and Ronbert, a street vendor, as they navigate through Francisco Baltazar’s masterpiece, in search of their own voice. These young kids yield their words as weapons and learn much more than what textbooks and classrooms could offer. Florante at Laura Remastered is written by Anj Heruela and directed by Ian Segarra. It will be staged on August 8-September 20, 2014 at Springs Production Studios.

Another production to watch out for is PETA’s adaptation of Anton Chekov’s Cherry Orchard. In this staging, the text will be set in the milieu of 1960’s lavish Manila aristocracy, to be adapted by Palanca Awardee Rody Vera. This production will also be PETA’s premiere collaboration with independent film director and Obie-awardee production designer Loy Arcenas.

International Partnerships

Aside from its in-house productions, the PETA Theater Center is also host to several local and international events and arts happenings.

On July 26, the PETA Theater Center and Japan Foundation Manila present PETA’s Strong Boy, Deaf Boy and a Girl in an Abaya and Dora Theater Company’s Ayanasu (Woven), two non-verbal performances about adversity, hope and triumph.

In partnership with British Council Manila, PETA also offers The Price of Everything and There We Have Been. The Price of Everything is Daniel Bye’s performance lecture of bizarre facts and impassioned arguments about value. James Cousins’ There We Have Been is a daringly intimate glimpse into a secluded world of fragile dependency. It takes an inspiration from the troubled relationships portrayed in Murakami’s best-selling novel Norwegian Wood.

Magic, fun and adventure combine in Janne Raudaskoski and Sammi Rannila’s Wally Watthead and His Lost Glow– Finland’s hit children’s magic theater show. Magic tricks and spectacles abound as Wally Watthead, a lightbulb, and his smartphone friend Simon the Simcard’s search for Wally’s lost glow. Children and adults will be thrilled by Wally’s magic transformations as he shrinks, levitates and grows on stage. Wally Watthead and His Lost Glow is a magical performance sure to be enjoyed by the entire family.

Aside from performances happening at The PETA Theater Center, PETA’s three mobile productions, Christine Bellen’s Mga Kuwento ni Lola Basyang, Ron Capinding’s William and Christine Bellen’s Batang Rizal are still on tour.
