Reborn Rich (2022)

In Reborn Rich, this year’s most anticipated series exclusively shown in the Philippines on Viu, certified K-drama hottie Song Joong Ki plays Yoon Hyun-Woo, a long-serving steward of the Soonyang Conglomerate. Finding himself falsely accused of embezzlement by the conglomerate's family, he is killed by their youngest son Jin Do-Joon.

That should’ve been the end of his story, but fate has other plans for our wronged hero, as shortly after his death, Yoon Hyun-Woo wakes up in the body of his killer. Not one to miss a chance for revenge, Hyun-Woo decides to not only destroy the family from within, he also schemes to take over and run the company himself.

The Innocent Man (2012)

Song Joong Ki is no stranger to shows where he plays characters out for revenge. He is as equally broody and scheming in his debut drama from 10 years ago, The Innocent Man. In the series, Joong Ki plays a promising young student who gets betrayed by his lover who left him for another – richer – man. Years later, he becomes a bartender-gigolo out to exact revenge on his former lover. What happens next: The student becomes the master as he then seduces the daughter of the man she earlier left him for.

Lawless Lawyer (2018)
In the series, yet another K-drama heartthrob, Lee Joon Gi, who shows you how revenge is best served cold. A lawyer raised by his gang member uncle, Bong Sang Pil (Lee Joon Gi) uses what he learned – which often skirts the definition of what’s legal – to mete out justice. This, all while he’s investigating and trying to avenge his mother’s death.

Taxi Driver (2021)
Perfect for fans of true crime, Taxi Driver is a series based on recent crimes that happened in South Korea with the offenders being punished lightly or, in some instances, let go. Lee Je Hoon plays Kim Do Gi, a not-so-ordinary taxi driver as he is part of a company that provides “revenge service.” The underground group drives their taxis around the city hunting down criminals themselves.

The World of the Married (2020)
Based on a popular BBC UK drama, The World of the Married stars Kim Hee-ae as Ji Sun Woo, a successful doctor who discovers that her ideal life isn’t what it seems after she begins to uncover all the lies surrounding her and discovering her husband’s affair. They say hell hath no fury than a woman scorned with Sun Woo being the perfect personification. The show has become one of the highest-rated K-dramas in Korea and has spawned its own hit Filipino adaptation, The Broken Marriage Vow.

Magical, mystery-filled Viu Originals that will make you believe in second chances

Hop aboard your couch for another emotional K-drama ride with the family. Catch these new, exciting ‘second chance’ shows on Viu through your PLDT Home Fiber.

Humanity has always had a fascination with the afterlife — an unsolved riddle embedded in some religions and cultures since time immemorial. Buddhists and Hindus believe in reincarnation while Christians believe in eternal life.

The concept is also popular in Korean culture. The K-drama industry, in particular, isn’t shy when it comes to exploring death and rebirth so much so it has spawned a new genre — Second Chances.

There’s the time-travel historical drama Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo (2016), where the epilogue hints at the star-crossed lovers meeting each other again in the present time after a tragic ending to their previous romance. There’s also the fantasy-thriller romcom My Love From the Star (2013), where an immortal alien lead finds the reincarnated version of his true love who had died several hundred years ago. These two shows are some of the über-popular dramas touching on the concept of “second chances” — made available on top K-content streaming service Viu.

K-drama fans can access unlimited entertainment and seamless viewing experience using their PLDT Home Fiber. At P80/month, PLDT Home offers the cheapest Viu Premium access in the Philippines and charges it to every subscriber’s monthly bill hassle-free.

For those on the hunt for the biggest second chance shows, Viu has got you covered. For starters, there are Viu Originals Again My LifeFrom Now On, Showtimeand Why Her — all of which are sure to take viewers through journeys of rebirth, redemption, and justice.

What’s hot now on Viu

What makes second chance dramas so popular? Maybe it’s how the viewers resonate with the characters’ quest to fix the “timeline” for the better and eventually redeem themselves.

Again My Life explores this arc. Based on Kim Hae-nal's popular webtoon, the story follows Kim Hee-woo (Lee Joon-gi) — a man who rises from the bottom of his high school class to becoming one of his city's hotshot prosecutors. Unfortunately, Kim Hee-woo meets his untimely death in the hands of unidentified men, found to be connected to a corruption investigation on a politician he is handling. But his story isn’t over just yet as a run-in with a sympathetic Grim Reaper gives him a second chance at life. Brought back to his time as a high school student, Kim Hee-woo now sets out on a retributive mission to solve the mystery that ended his past life.

Not everyone gets to be reborn, though. Redemption and second chances can also come through ghostly assistance. In the mystery romcom series From Now On, Showtime, a third-eye-possessing magician Cha Cha-woong (Park Hae-jin) reluctantly pairs up with police officer Go Seul-hae (Jin Ki-joo). As Cha Cha-woong’s special talent gets discovered, he is roped in Go Seul-hae’s mission to solve crimes in their city. To get to the bottom of these cases, the duo commissions the help of, yes, ghost witnesses and the victims themselves.

Similar tropes have been explored in K-dramas but with a magician as the main character, Cha Cha-woong makes crime solving a little more fun with his tricks and disguises.

Of all these stories, one might say the best kind of ‘second chance’ is when the character doesn’t have to die — just like in Why Her. This new Viu Original makes a perfect case for a second chance series rooted in everyday life.

Why Her follows the story of Oh Soo-jae (Seo Hyun-jin), the youngest partner of a top law firm known for her drive, desire to win, and take-no-prisoners approach to her cases. Her flourishing career comes crashing down when office politics and a corrupt law firm chairman demotes her for sticking her nose in a case involving the very firm she works for. Oh Soo-jae is then forced out of her company, taking a position as a professor in a local law school.

Unwilling to endure injustice and see the end of all she’s worked for, Oh Soo-jae stages a comeback by working on the case that has ruined her career. In the process, she meets law student Gong Chan (Hwang In-yeop) who may just be the key to break the case wide open and help Soo-jae get her second chance at the top.

Again My Life; From Now On, Showtime; and Why Her  — three different shows with distinct stories and character motivations, but carrying one message: that people can always right their wrongs and strive to be better.

Jodi goes all out in revenge game in last three weeks of “The Broken Marriage Vow: The Shocking Part”

O
nce
torn apart by her husband’s betrayal, Jill (Jodi Sta. Maria) is ramping up her efforts to protect her dignity and her son Gio (Zaijian Jaranilla) as her rage reaches new heights in the last three weeks of “The Broken Marriage Vow: The Shocking Part” on Kapamilya Channel, A2Z, and TV5.

Jill has had enough of David’s (Zanjoe Marudo) scheming tactics as she made it clear to her ex-husband that she wants him out of her and Gio’s lives for good since they were unable to separate amicably. Despite Gio’s deep resentment, David’s interference in their affairs remains persistently dangerous.

Because of David’s obsession, Jill refuses to be dragged into his web of lies and is hell-bent on letting Lexy (Sue Ramirez), David’s wife, know that he isn’t done with his philandering ways - after confessing that she and David spent a steamy night together.

As her once seemingly perfect life spirals out of control, Lexy’s doubts about David’s infidelity will begin to haunt her. David, on the other hand, will remain coy about his wrongdoings as he struggles to maintain his relationships with not only Jill and Gio, but with Lexy and her entire family as well.

Meanwhile, Gio will continue to be caught between his warring parents as he struggles with his anxiety caused by the traumatic experiences within their family.

Will Jill succeed in protecting Gio by driving David and Lexy out of their lives? Will Lexy and David’s relationship survive their impending problems?

Aside from iWantTFC and Viu, “The Broken Marriage Vow” can also be seen on weeknights at 9:20 PM on Kapamilya Channel, A2Z, TV5, and Kapamilya Online Live on ABS-CBN Entertainment’s YouTube channel and Facebook page. 5 most breathtaking Baguio sites showcased on The Broken Marriage Vow

Keep up with all the raging drama with Viu Premium powered by PLDT Home!

The log houses we all wish our parents own plus Baguio’s pine trees and gorgeous mountain views fill the backdrop of the emotional roller coaster hit drama series that is The Broken Marriage Vow.

Almost every episode lands on the trending pages of social media platforms. The show has become so popular it’s now one of the top titles on the streaming platform Viu, made cheaper and more accessible through a Viu Premium account powered by PLDT Home.

The marriage of Dr. Jill Victorino (Jodi Sta. Maria) and David Ilustre (Zanjoe Marudo) may have crumbled because of his affair with Lexy Lucero (Sue Ramirez). Yet, as we’re watching the frustrating and heartbreaking moments, we can’t help but think, “Tara, let’s go to Baguio!”

Beyond the riveting drama, we also find ourselves captivated by the sights all found within our Summer Capital. Raring to travel again? Here are a few of the series’ most iconic filming locations you, too, can visit while channeling your inner drama heroine!

Burnham Park

Located in downtown Baguio, Burnham Park is the city’s most famous park. Here, you can go boating on colorful swan boats, people-watch by the lake, even ride a bike. If you’re Dr. Jill, however, the park designed by Daniel Burnham may just be the perfect place for you to take a walk to clear your mind — and maybe plan your revenge — after discovering your husband is into some monkey business.

Camp John Hay

Surrounded by pine trees, fresh air, and the most amazing log cabins, Camp John Hay is a no-brainer must-visit for anyone visiting Baguio. To really complete the healing nature-filled experience, go enjoy the green scene and have a meal in Chef Billie King’s Le Chef Restaurant at the Manor.

Camp John Hay is more than just a sanctuary for our The Broken Marriage Vow family — in fact, it’s where most of the drama goes down.

White House of the Lord of Scents

In real life, the White House of the Lord of Scents is the abode of fragrance mogul Joel Cruz in Camp John Hay. While not a public tourist destination, it has become an attraction of its own because of its signature floor-to-ceiling windows that highlight its sweeping spiral staircase.

This is also where the show’s most iconic scene (colloquially called the batukan scene) happens. Knowing her husband is cheating with the daughter of the wealthy Luceros, Jill decides to invite themselves to dinner at the Lucero house for a grand confrontation.

Baguio Country Club

This is where Lexy Lucero’s parents often meet Jill — either as friends hanging out over lunch or in later episodes as enemies trading barbs as they are too civilized to go at each other’s throats.

The famous 117-year-old landmark isn’t just home to the best raisin bread and banana bread in the country, it also offers some of Baguio's most breathtaking views!

Kennon Road

While definitely picturesque, Kennon Road is also among the country’s most hazardous thoroughfares. Cliffs bracket the narrow road, making for a very steep fall if one is not careful. The tragedy snaking through this beauty fits the outwardly perfect Ilustre family finally succumbing to its own troubles.

In a scene shot along Kennon Road, Gio confronts his mother for not having time for him while Jill tries to console him. Jill soon realizes the gravity of the situation, now taking a toll on her conflicted child. It’s a raw moment that zooms in on children often becoming the biggest victims of a broken family.

We live for the nonstop scandal and drama of The Broken Marriage Vow, but we also find comfort in how directors Connie Macatuno and Andoy Ranay handle touchier subjects on the show.

Entertainment made better (and cheaper) at home!

See the drama on The Broken Marriage Vow unfold further in Baguio’s sights to behold — through a Viu Premium access powered by PLDT Home’s fastest and most reliable connections! Enjoy more of the hottest Asian content with no ads and same-day subtitled releases for select titles at just P80/month, the cheapest in the Philippines and already charged to your account!

Viu launches first Pinoy original STILL

The first Viu Original musical created by award winner Pat Valera with a powerhouse cast and a production backed by the brightest in the Philippines' theater and music industries

Viu, PCCW’s leading pan-regional OTT video streaming service, proudly launches its first original musical narrative series featuring a powerhouse cast of Filipino artists from the country’s music, film and theater scene.

STILL was created by Palanca-awardee Pat Valera, who is known for award-winning shows Dekada ‘70 the Musical and Mula Sa Buwan. Theater industry greats Giancarlo Abrahan and Nicco Manalo co-created the series with Valera. On the director’s chair is Treb Monteras II of the internationally-acclaimed rap musical Respeto. Multi-awarded screenwriter, director, producer and editor Monster Jimenez produced the series.

Ms. Arianne Kader-Cu, Country Head of Viu Philippines, said, “We are extremely honored and thrilled to be working with such a talented team that has produced a musical we hope impresses the world over. The story itself is relevant and we believe that STILL will resonate with all of us who have gone through this pandemic. We can’t wait for our Viu-ers to have access to STILL and get to know and love the characters, be hooked on the storyline, and sing their hearts out to the beautiful original soundtrack featured in the program.”

The eight-episode series follows the story of talented upcoming artists participating in Daloy Himig, a music camp that abruptly ends when the pandemic hits. With quarantine protocols placed around the country, the campers are left stuck in Balay, with only their music and each other to keep them company.

Leading the campers are estranged best friends Laura, always the relentless dreamer who fights for herself, for the people she loves and for the limelight (played by Julie Anne San Jose, Asia’s limitless star), and Sab, the voiceless writer who wants to follow her dreams but can’t (played by Gab Pangilinan, Philippine theater princess). The two instantly become friends with veteran camper Iggy (Mike Shimamoto), always ‘the happy pill’ Tugs (Abe Autea) and tired-but-still-a-fighter Leigh (Lance Reblando). Along with their mentors Nikolas (Christian Bautista, Asia’s romantic balladeer) and Annette (Bituin Escalante, veteran stage and concert singer), the campers’ lives and stories intertwine through powerful and poignant music. Through song and stage, they hope and rage to prove to the world that they still have a voice – that they still matter.

STILL is available now on Ticket2Me. New episodes will be added every week and can be viewed multiple times within a 32-hour window. For a special rate of P599, Viu-ers can avail of an Exclusive Viu Package (a free six-month Viu Premium subscription plus a free digital STILL chord book) with early access per STILL episode. Meanwhile, Viu subscribers can start streaming STILL on their devices on November 26, 2021.

Filipinos can also listen to the show’s 13 original songs performed by the country’s best talents via Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer and Tidal.
