Puerto Princesa Officially one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature

Puerto Princesa Underground River (PPUR) has been basically inaugurated as one of the New7Wonders of Nature and  was welcomed across the entire spectrum of the media in the Philippines. N7WN president Dr. Bernard Weber made the formal announcement during a press briefing at the Heritage Hotel in Pasay City last Saturday. Weber thanked Puerto Princesa City Mayor Edward S. Hagedorn for marshalling the active participation of Filipinos in ensuring the victory of PPUR in the tightly-contested race among unique places in all regions of the world.

Weber has predicted to convert over a commemorative plaque to the Philippine government which will be set up at a particular website in the metro. Another plaque will be set up in Palawan, near the PPUR access.

“Confirmation that the Puerto Princesa Underground River is one of the New Seven Wonders of Nature is welcome news indeed. Throughout the competition, Filipinos from all walks of life have given time, energy, and resources to this campaign,” said Presidential Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda.

Puerto Princesa Bishop Pedro Arigo, who said the PPUR’s status stresses the need to conserve and protect the environment. ‘We don’t need mining because tourism alone, using the pristine beauty of nature of Palawan creates livelihood for the people without destroying the environment,’ Arigo said at the sidelines of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines’ ongoing plenary assembly in Manila.”

This news might boost Philippine tourism and comes just weeks after the Department of Tourism unveiled its new tourism slogan ‘It’s more fun in the Philippines,’ to attract more foreign travelers.”

The PPUR was declared as one of the    New Seven Wonders of Nature  on November 11, 2011. The other six winners were Halong Bay in Vietnam; the Amazon of South America; Iguazu Falls between Argentina and Brazil; Jeju Island in South Korea; Komodo in Indonesia; and Table Mountain in South Africa.

Sandra Seifert Poses for Sultry New Earth Ad for PETA

With Earth's oceans and continents and the message "Save the Planet: Go Vegetarian"painted on her body, top model Sandra Seifert will pose for a stunning new ad for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) Asia.

The ad, which will be shot by top photographer Ken Go, with bodypainting by Don Delubio, makeup by Magic by Anju Dargani, and hair styling by Nina's Touch, will explain how animal agriculture is one of the leading causes of climate change and a major contributor to resource depletion, pollution, and world hunger.

"Meat production has a devastating impact on the environment," says Sandra. "With so many alternatives to meat available, it's easier than ever to enjoy great food while saving animals and the planet. Going vegetarian is the best thing we can do to save the planet this Earth Day!"

Besides causing the daily suffering of billions of animals who are raised to be killed for food, the meat industry ravages the Earth. The United Nations recently stated that a global shift toward a vegan diet is necessary to combat the worst effects of climate change. Livestock gas is the source of more than a third of all global human-attributed methane emissions—as a greenhouse gas, methane is 20 times more powerful than carbon dioxide.

In addition, feeding, transporting, and slaughtering farmed animals and packaging, transporting, and storing their flesh waste enormous amounts of energy.

In the Philippines, nearly 800 million cows, pigs, chickens, and other animals are killed for their flesh every year. They are dehorned and debeaked and have their teeth, tails, and testicles cut off—all without being given any painkillers. They are crammed into crowded, filthy enclosures and denied everything that is natural and important to them. At the slaughterhouse, animals are routinely hung upside down, have their throats cut, are skinned alive, or are scalded to death while they're still conscious.

American Idol with 'Now And Then' Week, Jessica Sanchez with "Fallen" and "Try A Little Tenderness"

Jessica Sanchez gives 'otherworldly' performance during Wednesday's "American Idol"  with a recap of Jessica's last week's near elimination.

American Idol' top seven sing hits from 'Now And Then'The contestants sang two songs each, the first a #1 hit from 2000 to today, the second an old-school soul classic.

After nearly being booted last week, Sanchez fought back on the "Idol" stage, first with Alicia Keys' "Fallin' " and later with a spunky version of Otis Redding's "Try a Little Tenderness."
Jessica Sanchez impressed the American Idol judges with both her performances with a mature rendition. Standing ovation,  Judges Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez, and Randy Jackson showed their appreciation for Jessica's vocal prowess.

Steven Tyler said it sounded like she was angry with the song, noted, “That was the passion that you released.”

Jennifer Lopez said, “When you opened your mouth, the way you play with songs, it’s crazy, it’s insane. I’m glad we saved you. I’m glad you’re here.

Randy Jackson said, “It was so right for us to do. Your talent is so otherworldly I don’t even think you know it. I love it. Brilliant. Brilliant."

Here is the Jessica Sanchez Try a Little Tenderness.

Steven Tyler said, " You’ve done it again. I like the fact that you’re stepping out."

Jennifer Lopez said, "We got a little bit of your alter ego, the one you talk about. I think after last week we’ve got to start pushing with your performances. America’s got to connect with you. That’s where I think we need to push you."
Randy Jackson said, "I agree. Absolutely correct. Connect the emotion with the lyrics. That’s what they’re going to respond to. You can sing like nobody’s business. Nice work."
Songs from the other six of the top seven:
Joshua Ledet,  first Fantasia’s “I Believe” and later for Sam Cooke’s “A Change Is Gonna Come.”
Phillip Phillips took on Usher’s “U Got It Bad” early before tackling Wilson Pickett’s “In the Midnight Hour”
