One young and simple girl is now a Tennis player, even she has nothing to buy tennis racquet and even the clothes she use to play in a tennis court with the professional players or with the elite group of society.

She is Mikaela Joy L. Javier, known as the "Pulot Girl" of Isabella, Region 2.

Why? Ella, 16 year-old, and just graduateed from Magsaysay National High School in Alicia, Isabela. With her family, living near a tennis court where professional players regulary play. She was the "Pulot Girl" when she was 11 years old, tasked to get the tennis balls, retrieve for the players in exchange for a few pesos. She earned 40Php per hour, she uses in her school needs and was able to help her parents in their daily expenses. She even earned 300Php a day being the "Pulot Girl."

"Nagsimula po ako nagpulot, noon na naglalakad po ako sa tennis court, nakita ko po mga cousin ko po, sabi po nya sa akin, maganda dun at mababait yung mga tao," Ella shared.

"Isang araw pumasok po ako tapos may nagtanong kung namumulot ako ng tennis balls and sabi ko, opo. Pero kung susubukan mo at mag tennis ka wala ng balikan, ituloy tuloy mo na kasi makakatulong din ito sa iyo." Ella said.

She have love playing Tennis. When one player asked her to try to play, she said yes. That's the starting of her training, focus on her studies and tennis plays, and became a member of the school's varsity team.

She's happy because her friends and co-players are good people. They support each other, "masaya po sa paglalaro ng tennis kasi mababait po din 'yung mga kasama ko, magaan po kasi yung pag-approach ng tennis players, hindi po sila 'yung, pagkapasok mo, ay sino ka, hindi po ganun. Madalas po nag offer sila ng tinapay."

Regularly training, with her exceptional skills, she won medals in competitions. "Yung pong unang competition ko, yun po 'yung ginagawa ng coach na nagtuturo sa amin, pinaglaban-laban po kami, sabi po nya sige sali ka na tingnan natin kung ano mangyayari, nung una nga po hindi pa ako makakasama kasi wala po akong pera. . . for registration. Pero sobrang bait po ni coach at mga kasama ko kaya po nakasama ako at natuwa po talaga ako kasi naging first po ako dun, natuwa din po ako at gusto ko na po ang tennis."

"Pangatlong sali ko na po ito sa Palaro pero masaya po ako kasi maraming nakikilala at natututunan," said Ella, one of the delegates of Cagayan Valley Regional Athletics Association of their region to compete for the Tennis Sport Event in Palarong Pambansa 2015.

Ella will soon be entering college and she still choosing among the three college institutions with full scholarship offers. She wants to be a Teacher.

Passion, determination and hardship, shaped this young "Pulot Girl" to a unbeatable tennis player champion. In the future, a full scholar college girl will become big someone in the society.

Aloha Hawaii! 10 Years of Make Your Own Havaianas in more than 10 Locations Nationwide!

As summer goes full blown, we find ourselves day-dreaming about white beaches and cobalt blue ocean, with waves crashing down the shore and palm trees swaying with the wind. There is one spot on Earth (aside from the islands of the Philippines) that makes the vibe of summer an everyday reality. It is a paradise in the middle of the Pacific – aloha Hawaii!

Thanks to the world’s leading flip-flop brand Havaianas, we can experience Hawaii right smack in the center of Makati as Make Your Own Havaianas turns 10!

Why Hawaii, you ask? Havaianas, which means “Hawaiians” in Portuguese, was born out of the tropical islands’ hang loose culture. Hawaiians live most of their lives outdoors, enjoying the many gifts of Mother Nature, and thus cannot live without their so-called rubbah slippahs – or in our case, flip-flops! Hawaii’s breezy way of life and exuberant colors have been inspiring every Havaianas style since 1962.

This year, Havaianas kicked off the 10th year of MYOH with an exclusive vintage Hawaiian luau to pay homage to its inspiration. On May 5, 2015, stars as bright as those of Hawaii’s night sky graced the event to celebrate a decade of flip-flops customization.

They got first picks from this year’s limited edition pins such as hibiscus, sea grubs, and ukulele, which look really good with the commemorative vintage Hawaiian pair!

“It was in 2006 when this concept was introduced to the local market. And while Make Your Own Havaianas is being experienced in different countries around the globe, it is only in the Philippines that it has grown so big that we needed to do it nationwide --- simultaneously to accommodate the Havaianaticos in the country,” says Anne Gonzalez, Managing Director of Havaianas Philippines. She added, “Havaianas occupies a special place in the hearts (and feet) of our Filipino customers --- hence, we are bringing this special personalization treat to them.”

Since then, Make Your Own Havaianas became a much-awaited annual tradition that the brand’s customers look forward to and line up for every year. But this time around, more Filipinos will be able to experience this exciting and engaging family affair as we hold MYOH in Glorietta Activity Center and key cities around the country, all at the same time from May 7 to 10! For the first time in a decade, MYOH will be open in select All Flip-Flops branches and pop-ups nationwide.

The Department of Education (DepEd) together with the provincial host Davao del Norte (DavNor) officially welcomed yesterday more than 12,000 delegates including student athletes, coaches and officials representing different regions all over the country to the opening of the country’s most-awaited sporting event - Palarong Pambansa 2015.

The surrounding setting of festivity was buzzing at the Davao del Norte Sports & Tourism Complex (DNSTC) as Palaro’s opening ceremonies started with the parade of friendship and camaraderie, followed by an exhibition of the Philippine Army paratroopers and the singing of the national anthem by The Voice Philippines Season 1 finalist, Thor Dulay.

Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas graced the national event in behalf of President Benigno Simeon Aquino III.
DepEd Secretary Br. Armin Luistro, Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas,  and DavNor Governor Rodolfo P. Del Rosario

"Ang tagumpay at ang kadakilaan ng isang atleta ay wala doon sa event mismo pero nasa araw araw na psgsasakripisyo, pagpupursige, para maabot nila ang excellence na nasa angking talento nila," Roxas said.

In an interview, Roxas shared that sucess is not measured by merely winning the games.

Traditions, such as the turn-over and the hoisting of the Palarong Pambansa banner were observed elatedly.
DavNor Governor Rodolfo P. Del Rosario

“The dream culminates today as we open the Palarong Pambansa 2015. It is therefore an honor for us to prepare the stakes for our young athletes to make the dreams come true. In all our preparations, we have put our young athletes the centre of the Palarong Pambansa 2015. They are the reason for the existence of the National Games, thus we have spared no effort in expense to ensure their safety and convenience, so they will have the best experience that they can get here in DavNor,”  DavNor Governor Rodolfo P. Del Rosario said during his welcoming speech.

DepEd Secretary Br. Armin Luistro
The program was cut short when DepEd Secretary Br. Armin Luistro yelled “Class Dismissed!” as rain started to pour on the sports complex.

Nevertheless, Palaro was declared opened and the youth of DavNor continued to showcase their many talents as the sky cleared up.

LG G4 is the most ambitious smartphone to date

LG invites consumers to see and feel greatness in a smartphone

LG Electronics globally unveils the most highly anticipated LG G4 smartphone in six cities including New York, London, Paris, Singapore, Istanbul and Seoul. Approximately 1,000 guests around the world gathered to witness the successor of the LG G3 which excelled in all sales charts and industry recognitions. Among the first users of the LG G4 will be 4,000 lucky customers who will receive the coveted smartphone as part of the company’s largest-ever consumer experience campaign.

Unrivalled design

The LG G4 is available in handcrafted, full grain leather in six beautiful colors. The vegetable tanned leather is not only environmentally friendly but also luxurious, using genuine leather instead of the usual faux material that other smartphones use. Other material options for the G4 rear cover are pure Ceramic White with 3D patterns, artisan-forged Metallic Gray and lustrous Shiny Gold.

The comfortable elegance of the LG G4 is a refreshing change from the uniformly flat, full metal designs that have been become standard across the industry. The LG G4’s design is defined by the Slim Arc, which runs along its entire body, highlighted by a display with a subtle curvature. More than just a design accent, Slim Arc offers more durability than a flat smartphone in face-down drops and gives the smartphone a more comfortable and secure feel in the hand.

Superb visual experience

LG designed the 16-megapixel camera in the LG G4 to capture stunning images even under less than ideal lighting conditions. The camera module features an industry-first wide F1.8 aperture lens that allows 80 percent more light to reach the sensor. LG improved low-light performance even further with OIS 2.0, which doubles the performance of the OIS+ by expanding the range of image stabilization from one degree to two degrees on the X- and Y-axis and adding a third axis for the first time.

Just like DSLRs, the LG G4’s Manual Mode allows experienced photographers to exercise more artistic expression by directly controlling the focus, shutter speed, ISO, exposure compensation and white balance for every shot. Advanced photographers can also save their photos in RAW format, in addition to JPEG, for more precise editing with no loss of details.

The advanced camera in the LG G4 is complemented by Color Spectrum Sensor (CSS), the first feature of its kind to find its way into a smartphone. CSS improves color accuracy by precisely reading the RGB values of the ambient light in a scene, as well as the infrared light reflected from objects. And for selfies good enough to frame, LG included an industry-leading eight-megapixel front-facing camera for sharp, detailed portraits and group shots.

Taking a quantum leap in display technology, the LG G4 is the first smartphone to use LG Display’s new 5.5-inch IPS Quantum Display, which offers 20 percent greater color reproduction, 25 percent improvement in brightness and 50 percent greater contrast. This new display is calibrated for DCI (Digital Cinema Initiatives) standards for color expression, championed by top Hollywood studios.

With the LG G4, the higher quality display doesn’t come at the expense of battery life. The G4 is equipped with a high-capacity 3,000mAh removable battery, a rare feature in today’s high-end smartphones. Combined with the benefits offered by the snappy yet energy-thrifty Qualcomm®Snapdragon™ 808 processor, the LG G4 has no trouble getting through a full day of normal use.

“We are thrilled to globally introduce the outstanding LG G4, letting consumers see and feel optimal greatness in a smartphone,” LG Mobile Philippines Vice President Jay Won said. “From the design to the camera to the display to the user experience, the LG G4 is undoubtedly the most ambitious phone LG has ever created, promising world-class performance and no disappointment.”

The LG G4 will start its global roll-out on April 29 in Korea and will eventually be available on approximately 180 carriers worldwide. Prices and carrier availability will be announced locally in each market.
