COMCO Mundo ignites epic 7 years celebration with staff awaydays in Greece, movie event with media, APAC agency award win, and office expansion in Manila and Dubai

Global award-winning communications group COMCO Mundo League of Enterprises marked its epic 7th anniversary with a milestone staff awaydays in Greece, a special media movie event, a major APAC award win, and the expansion of its Manila and Dubai office.

The COMCO Mundo Awaydays in Greece and Singapore

Staying true to its commitment to nurture talent through diverse cultural experiences, COMCO Mundo’s staff awaydays, after Japan in 2018 and Australia in 2019, had the team flying to Europe! Mythical ruins and cultural sites greeted the COMCO Mundo employees on the sunny shores of Greece as the COMCO Mundo team explored the country that scholars deemed the land of the gods, the cradle of Western civilization, and the birthplace of democracy.

Ancient legends came to life over their week-long stay with stops at the Acropolis and the Ancient Agora, where one could imagine the hustle and bustle of Athenian citizens as they shopped, traded, and worshipped among the remnants of the temples of their gods. Further exploration took the team to the Temple of Poseidon, the Greek God of the Sea, and to the idyllic Greek islands of Agistri, Aegina, Hydra, and Poros. The team also enjoyed a rendezvous with sea and sky with a swim in the Mediterranean. A quick stop in Singapore brought them face to face with another creature of fantasy – the Singapore Merlion at One Fullerton, before they capped their trip with a food feast and an iconic Singapore experience, tasting the culinary delights of this foodie capital at an iconic hawker centre, Lau Pa Sat.

The company also commemorated its 7th year with a movie night with its COMCOmigos, treating its valued media, blogger, influencer, content creator, and digital activator partners and friends to an evening of fun games and a screening of the blockbuster Marvel film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 in Ayala Mall’s Glorietta 4 Cinema.

These were certainly celebrations as the company also welcomes accolades and a bigger home for the COMCO Squadron both in Manila and Dubai.

COMCO SEA was once again recognized for its landmark people programs and campaigns as it took home the Medium Consultancy Award at the prestigious and highly coveted PRCA APAC (Public Relations and Communications Association Asia-Pacific) Awards 2023. The company was lauded for effective business results, community leadership, and innovation in its operations.

Meanwhile, COMCO Middle East & Africa is also enjoying meteoric growth, having successfully concluded the Middle East Film and Comic Con or MEFFC 2023 with record-breaking numbers and continuing to be the agency partner of choice of top leisure, hospitality, and food brands. They have also recently found their home at the prestigious address of Ibn Battuta Gate at Jebel Ali, Dubai.

The COMCO Middle East and Africa team based in Dubai, UAE

“It has certainly been an epic 7 years for us in COMCO as we’ve continued our meteoric growth in the Middle East & Africa, launched our digital and integrated communications agency in Southeast Asia, and expanded our offices on both shores to serve as the craftsmanship vessel for our new talents. What better way to commemorate these wins and our COMCO Squadron who has been with us in this journey than with overseas team travel,” shared Ferdinand Bondoy, COMCO Mundo Group Chief Executive Director and Lead Strategic Communications Counsel / Partner and Co-Founder.

“We invest in overseas team travel because we invest in our people. As storytellers, travel widens the team's perspective about the world and life in general; the shared discovery, journey, and experience strongly connects the team; and the one-of-a-kind immersion further cultivates our workplace culture.”

As its epic 7th celebration continues, COMCO Mundo looks forward to sharing more surprises, major announcements, and a big event in the last quarter of the year. COMCO Southeast Asia’s Group Chief Executive and Lead Strategic Communications Counsel / Partner and Co-Founder Mr. Ferdinand L. Bondoy
has been elected to prestigious international PR industry groups, the Public Relations & Communications Association Asia Pacific (PRCA APAC) and the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR).

Mr. Bondoy was named as one of the newest Regional Board Members of PRCA APAC based in Singapore and the only Filipino to be elected in the position. The Board provides a formal mechanism to consult with the industry’s most senior practitioners on the issues PR and communications face and to act as a think-tank for the industry in the Asia-Pacific Region. Alongside his duties as a Board Member, he will also play a vital role in the organization’s Workplace and Culture Committee.

Going beyond his work in Asia-Pacific, Mr. Bondoy was also appointed anew to be part of the London-based CIPR’s International Committee, representing not only the Philippines but also Southeast Asia and the rest of Asia-Pacific. The committee is one of the largest sectoral groups of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations and it brings members together to discuss and attend to issues facing communicators working internationally.

PRCA is the world’s largest professional PR body representing more than 35,000 PR professionals in 70 countries worldwide and a global advocate for excellence in public relations. Meanwhile, CIPR is the world’s only Royal Chartered professional body for public relations practitioners, with nearly 10,000 members across the globe.

A winner of the PR Champion of the Year Gold Award at the recent PR Awards for Asia-Pacific, Ferdinand L. Bondoy is a multi-awarded communications practitioner with extensive communications work, regional collaboration, and international training throughout his journey as a storyteller. He co-founded COMCO Southeast Asia, a global award-winning inter-regional integrated communications agency headquartered in the Philippines with affiliate network presence in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand, which champions the practice of the emerging global disciplines of New PR and Smart Social. He also led the creation of COMCO Mundo League of Enterprises, the parent and umbrella organization for trailblazing and game-changing companies and programs such as COMCO Southeast Asia, COMCO Middle East & Africa, TARO Digital AOX, SEA Wave Pop Culture Studio, Citizen COMCO Advocacy Program, and Camp COMCO Mentorship Program Alumni Society.

“I am both humbled and honored to work with the most distinguished global PR professionals of the PRCA and CIPR. These are opportunities that I not only consider as a milestone for myself but for the PR industry in the Philippines as a whole and I commit to champion the causes and projects of these organizations. As issues are not restricted geographically and all of us are interconnected wherever we are in the world, we need to go beyond borders to reach out to more stakeholders and ultimately, ignite social change through the practice of our discipline,” said Mr. Bondoy.

Ferdinand started young in the communications field having been an academic scholar of the Public Relations Society of the Philippines (PRSP) in Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (University of the City of Manila) where he graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Bachelor of Mass Communication. As a way of giving back to the industry, he created the award-winning Camp COMCO Mentorship Program which has been recognized for training and producing a new breed of young communications practitioners. He also serves as the Corporate Secretary and Chair of the Digital Communications and Public Relations Committee and Youth Programs of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Philippines.

Camp COMCO honored at IABC Quill Awards for its program for communication students and graduates, opens application for its Cycle 19

The International Association of Business Communicators’ (IABC) 19th Philippine Quill Awards recently bestowed top honors on Camp COMCO Mentorship Program, the groundbreaking and proprietary talent incubation initiative, industry linkage course, and apprenticeship platform of trailblazing inter-regional integrated communications agency COMCO Southeast Asia.
Camp COMCO won Excellence Awards in Internal Communication for “Camp COMCO House Wars – The Force of Learning in New PR and Smart Social” and “Igniting the Alumni Culture – The Camp COMCO Alumni Society”. It also bagged the Excellence Award in Communication Training and Education for Camp COMCO House Wars and Merit Award in Internal Communication for “Celebrating the Alumni Culture – The Camp COMCO Alumni Society Unity Games”. Ultimately, Camp COMCO earned one of the highest honors in Quill Awards as it received the finalist citation for the much-coveted Top Award in Communication Training and Education. Launched in 2016, Camp COMCO Mentorship Program also won the 2019 IABC Quill Award of Excellence in Communications Training and Education and the 2019 Gold Anvil Award in Specialized Public Relations Program.

One of the many reasons why the program is vastly successful is because it strategically and structurally covers training in diverse communication areas empowered by the COMCO’s culture of mentorship. Camp COMCO apprentices are assigned to their respective mentorship houses – House Bearcat, Hawksbill, Flying Fox, and Whaleshark where they are co-trained by their respective house stewards alongside mentors from COMCO Mundo League of Enterprises, Camp COMCO Alumni Society and the industry. These young talents go through the process of Skills Calibration, Strategic Communications Immersion, and a Specialization Elective.

In House Wars, the culminating activity of the Camp, the apprentices through their mentorship houses are given the opportunity to use what they have learned in the program and develop communication proposals for some of the most renowned brands in the industry. Some of the brands and organizations that have participated in House Wars were Starbucks, FWD Insurance, Theo & Philo Chocolates, CARA (Compassion and Responsibility for Animals) Welfare Philippines, and ABS-CBN, among others. The houses compete for the best communications proposal to be presented and pitched to the brand, and the winning house will be declared as the House Wars Champion!

Over the past 6 years, Camp COMCO Mentorship Program has already produced 100 graduates from 18 cycles. Graduates of the program become members of the Camp COMCO Alumni Society and continue to be involved in many of the organization’s initiatives, such as the COMCOlidays with Kids outreach program, emergency response fundraisers (e.g. for PGH during the COVID-19 pandemic and for Tuguegarao Bloggers Society during Typhoon Ulysses) and Camp COMCO Unity Games. Camp COMCO alumni have become top caliber young professionals and many of them are now award-winners and are holding key positions in COMCO as well as in other companies and sectors in the industry.

“I’ve done many projects throughout my career but bringing Camp COMCO Mentorship Program to life is probably my proudest accomplishment. Camp COMCO is designed to give the best internship or apprenticeship for aspiring communication professionals as I believe that a good mentorship program is the one that will fully prepare these students and young practitioners, provide them with the best jumping board for the practice of our craft, and ultimately help them define their future,” said COMCO SEA Group Chief Executive Director and Camp COMCO Mentorship Program Creator and Head Mentor Mr. Ferdinand L. Bondoy,

Camp COMCO Mentorship Program is now accepting young communications talents for its 19th cycle. If you think you have the edge to become the next communication rockstar, send your application and curriculum vitae (CV) to headquarters@comcomundo.com or commandcenter@comcosea.com.
