Globe’s G-gantic Goal unlocked: 100,000 customers unite to bring food, fun to 917 underprivileged families

In yet another highlight of its annual G DAY celebration, Globe recently brought together 100,000 customers to spread joy to 917 underprivileged families through G-Gantic Goals, giving them a memorable Family Day with a surprise movie treat and a grocery and food package.

Backed by Globe Rewards, the initiative amplified the impact of National Family Week and showcased the spirit of unity among Globe customers and partners.

“The Filipinos' innate bayanihan spirit has proven once again that when we come together for a shared cause, we can make a meaningful difference. Through G-gantic Goals, we have shown that even a single Rewards point can create a ripple effect for good. Globe Rewards points have become agents of positive change, helping alleviate hunger and advancing the country’s sustainable development goals,” said Jerome Patalud, Head of Globe Rewards.

G-gantic Goals, a new community engagement feature on the GlobeOne app, encouraged 100,000 Globe customers to use 1 Rewards point to unlock a family day for 917 families or 3,668 family members supported by the Hapag Movement, Globe’s hunger alleviation campaign.

Modeled after a gamified fundraising drive, G-gantic Goals displayed real-time progress of the collective effort through the GlobeOne app, motivating customers to invite others to join. The goal was achieved five days ahead of schedule.

“A huge thank you to everyone, especially to the 100,000 Globe customers who participated in the G-gantic Goal. Because of you, we achieved our goal of providing a family date for 917 families nationwide supported by the Hapag Movement,”said Saj Ocampo, Manager at Globe Rewards.

Culminating the first iteration of G-gantic Goals at the close of National Family Week, Globe hosted simultaneous events across the country, delivering G Day grocery packages with essential food items to beneficiary families.

To heighten the excitement, the families were treated to a special movie screening at Ayala Malls Cinemas, a first-time experience for many. Screenings were held in multiple Ayala Malls, including TriNoma and UP Town Center in Quezon City, Feliz in Pasig City, MarQuee in Pampanga, Ayala Center Cebu, and Abreeza Davao.

“Masaya po kami na napili kami para po mabigyan ng pagkakataon. Labis po ang kasiyahan namin na kahit papaano, nakapag-bonding kami. Yung isama mo ang isa, sapat na pero yung lahat kami is a big thing for us. Maraming-maraming salamat,” shared Yhanie Abajaof Hopeful Hearts Foundation.

“Sobrang saya ko po ng nalaman ito kasi I will have the time to bond with my family and also make new memories with them. Sobrang grateful po sa Globe at sa Tzu Chi,” said Jiezel Dalagan, a scholar at Tzu Chi Foundation, one of three participating Hapag Movement partners.

Other Hapag Movement partners whose support was invaluable in organizing the simultaneous family dates were Ayala Foundation and Scholars of Sustenance Philippines. Contributions from Ayala Malls Cinemas and Puregold Price Club, Inc. also played a vital role in making the day extra special for the families involved.

“The success of G-gantic Goals demonstrates how the power of collaboration and an innovative customer engagement channel can make a real difference and uplift communities. We are grateful to our customers who helped make our G DAY celebration even more meaningful,” said Yoly Crisanto, Globe’s Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer.

Customers looking to contribute can continue making direct donations via the GlobeOne app to Hapag Movement’s partner organizations including the UN World Food Programme, Ayala Foundation, Tzu Chi Foundation, Scholars of Sustenance, and Project PEARLS.

Globe keeps Bayanihan spirit alive, allows customers to support distance learning

As Christmas approaches, Globe aims to reignite the Bayanihan spirit among Filipinos -- allowing customers to contribute to its nation-building efforts through Globe Rewards.

Inspired by Globe’s most iconic prefix, 0917, the company dedicated the month of September to show its love and gratitude for customers by providing them with a platform to share their blessings with communities in need of support.

“Supporting communities to access basic needs during a pandemic or a disaster is a fundamental aspect of nation-building. Globe activates its ecosystem and provides channels to its customers to contribute to advocacies and respond to the urgent needs of our kababayans,” said Yoly Crisanto, Globe Chief Sustainability Officer and Senior Vice President for Corporate Communications.

Using Globe Rewards, Globe customers can donate to Ayala Foundation Inc. (AFI) to support public schools, teachers, and students with connectivity tools for the distance learning setup.

Through AFI, Globe has been helping the Department of Education (DepEd) Brigada Eskwela program, which pivoted to providing digital solutions to help teachers and students attend classes virtually.

Enabling the Philippine education sector through accessible internet and technology

Crisanto also highlighted how “Globe has been an enabler of e-learning” through the platforms and programs they’ve launched, including free data access to DepEd Commons and the Globe e-Library web-platform and mobile app.

With these, students and teachers are now able to upload and consume learning materials, as well as access age-appropriate and engaging e-books and e-learning videos on their devices.

Likewise, Globe has provided Ayala Foundation close to P10 million worth of connectivity tools such as preloaded SIMs, Globe at Home Prepaid WiFi Kits under the WiFi2Teach program, and monetary donations benefiting over 11,900 students and teachers.

Globe and TM customers have also supported through Globe Rewards and donated a total of P2.2 million from September 2020 to Q2 of 2021 - P1.15 million of which went to Brigada Eskwela; helping 221,123 students and 5,649 teachers. The remaining P1.05 million went to disaster response, benefiting 30,000 families or 150,000 individuals in 8 provinces across 7 regions.

Through Global Filipino Teachers (GFT) webinars, Globe continues to train educators on digital literacy, parental support on digital learning, responsible online behavior, effective 21st-century approaches to early language literacy, and psychological first aid. GFT recently partnered with DepEd – Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Services for a 14-session webinar series on mental wellness.

Making everyday a GDay with Globe Rewards

How often do we say “Have a good day” and sincerely mean it beyond a perfunctory farewell blessing?

For Globe Rewards, “Have a Good Day!” is more than a greeting.

A good day - a GDay - is the theme of Globe’s 917 celebration this year and it’s about giving back to their loyal customers through exciting rewards and surprises, so they can feel empowered as individuals and be inspired to help uplift fellow Filipinos’ lives through care and compassion.

0917 is Globe’s iconic and original prefix, known by many as the badge of a Globe subscriber. What used to be celebrated on September 17th has grown to be more than a month-long series of 917 festivities to express gratitude and give back to Globe customers

Globe Rewards aims to make this year’s 0917 celebration a platform for rallying Filipinos during this time of collective need through upliftment, bayanihan, and leveled-up rewarding experiences. Customers will have the opportunity to help non-government organizations, charitable institutions, and foundations while engaging in fun, energizing activities like games and music.

“Every year, we try to make our customers and partners feel appreciated in more meaningful ways. And as the times have become even more challenging for our fellow countrymen, we want to respond by leveraging Globe Rewards as a means to energize our customers, while creating platforms to give back and support communities as well,” said Bianca Wong, Head of Globe’s Feel Valued Tribe.

Many exciting giveaways, fun events and daily virtual surprises are in store in this year’s 917 GDay celebration. Festivities kicked off as early as August with the opening of G Legends Cup, an amateur mobile gaming tournament where champions are given the opportunity to not only win for themselves, but for their communities, as well.

Surprises are to be unveiled throughout the whole month of September with the highly-anticipated G Chance the Raffle, whereby Globe and TM customers get the chance to win exciting prizes everyday, leading up to a grand prize draw for P1 Million GCash Credits. Another highlight of GDay is the first G Super Sale where customers get to enjoy sulit deals from Globe’s exclusive partnership with Lazada and GLife in the GCash app. Global industry experts will grace this year’s G Summit virtual stage to share relevant tips and insights with Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise (MSME) owners. And Globe’s biggest online concert, G Music Fest continues the tradition of showcasing the best of local Pinoy talent and guest international artists as means to lift emotions, bring joy and hope through music.

“(GDay) is a day for sharing, for others to enjoy. Share music, share culture, share pieces of joy. A good day is better when shared sa iba. Nag enjoy ka na, nakatulong ka pa. Maybe, we pray, if we do it this way, this feeling of GDay can be felt every day,” as shared in the film entitled, Atin ang #GDayEveryday.

These days, we can all use something good to lift up our spirits amid the pandemic.

With Globe Rewards, Atin ang #GDay everyday!

“We want to thank you for all of your donations which has helped our programs in restoring the high mountain forests of Mindanao. However, we still have thousands of hectares of land to reforest with over 120 communities to partner with. So, we continue to ask for your support through your Globe Rewards donation to plant more trees and help in our ongoing conservation efforts,” said James Tuason, Hineleban Foundation’s Head of Reforestation.

“Thank you to all Globe Rewards customers! Last year, your support really helped our organization stay afloat through what was a difficult year for everyone. This year, your support will help us continue our work by creating marine conservation kits for children and youth. If we can't bring people to the sea, then we will bring the sea to them,” said Anna Oposa, Save Philippine Seas Executive Director and Chief Mermaid.

Globe continues to encourage customers to donate their Rewards points to these partner organizations by downloading the Globe Rewards app via https://glbe.co/GRewardsApp. Rewards points are good as cash and can be exchanged for food, shopping, health and wellness, transportation, and even entertainment.
