Globe empowers employees and customers to create a #GlobeOfGood this Int’l Volunteer Day

Volunteerism has been a key part of Globe’s corporate culture
through its various employee engagement programs. In contributing to nation-building, the company is encouraging its employees and customers to actively support community engagement programs this International Volunteer Day (IVD).

IVD, as mandated by the United Nations General Assembly, is an annual celebration marked every December 5 and is viewed as a chance for volunteers and organizations to share knowledge and promote their work among their communities, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), United Nations agencies, government authorities, and the private sector.

Globe embeds the spirit of bayanihan or “civic unity and cooperation” in its corporate culture through the Volunteer Time-Off (VTO) program - a benefit that allows employees to volunteer at least once a year in their chosen advocacy or community.

Chief Sustainability Officer and SVP for Corporate Communications Yoly Crisanto said, “At Globe, we create ways to enable employees and customers to contribute to the greater good. Just like how our kababayans supported each other this year through the community pantries, we too, are ready to support nation-building together with our Ka-Globe.”

The company has opened numerous channels for its employees and stakeholders to share their time, talents, and resources. At the onset of the pandemic, Globe pivoted efforts by promoting digital volunteerism through fundraising using digital platforms such as GCash and Globe Rewards.

Currently, Globe is holding another internal fundraising campaign called The Purpose Tree, which supports hunger alleviation and livelihood initiatives of the Ayala Foundation and its partners under the #BrigadangAyala: Ka-Akay Program. The program aims to assist 10,000 families of displaced workers in the National Capital Region.

Globe is also extending volunteering opportunities to their customers. This December, the #ForFutureHeroes program is opening up a new avenue of donation through Globe Rewards via the new GlobeOne app. With this, Globe Platinum hopes to expand its reach to other education-focused advocacies such as the Ayala Foundation, Teach for the Philippines, and the Hero Foundation.

Since 2020, customers have been actively supporting Filipino students within the program -- matching their participation and purchases from select Globe Platinum initiatives with equivalent DepEd-approved school kits through donations to World Vision.

Globe and TM customers can donate their Rewards points to various advocacies through the new GlobeOne app. All they have to do is visit the Rewards section on the app, click “DONATE,” and choose the organization and corresponding denomination they want to support with the “REDEEM” button. A confirmation message will be sent by 4438 upon successful donation.

The company strongly supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly UN SDG No. 9, highlighting the roles of infrastructure and innovation as crucial drivers of economic growth and development. It is committed to upholding the UN Global Compact principles and contributing to 10 UN SDGs.

Globe keeps Bayanihan spirit alive, allows customers to support distance learning

As Christmas approaches, Globe aims to reignite the Bayanihan spirit among Filipinos -- allowing customers to contribute to its nation-building efforts through Globe Rewards.

Inspired by Globe’s most iconic prefix, 0917, the company dedicated the month of September to show its love and gratitude for customers by providing them with a platform to share their blessings with communities in need of support.

“Supporting communities to access basic needs during a pandemic or a disaster is a fundamental aspect of nation-building. Globe activates its ecosystem and provides channels to its customers to contribute to advocacies and respond to the urgent needs of our kababayans,” said Yoly Crisanto, Globe Chief Sustainability Officer and Senior Vice President for Corporate Communications.

Using Globe Rewards, Globe customers can donate to Ayala Foundation Inc. (AFI) to support public schools, teachers, and students with connectivity tools for the distance learning setup.

Through AFI, Globe has been helping the Department of Education (DepEd) Brigada Eskwela program, which pivoted to providing digital solutions to help teachers and students attend classes virtually.

Enabling the Philippine education sector through accessible internet and technology

Crisanto also highlighted how “Globe has been an enabler of e-learning” through the platforms and programs they’ve launched, including free data access to DepEd Commons and the Globe e-Library web-platform and mobile app.

With these, students and teachers are now able to upload and consume learning materials, as well as access age-appropriate and engaging e-books and e-learning videos on their devices.

Likewise, Globe has provided Ayala Foundation close to P10 million worth of connectivity tools such as preloaded SIMs, Globe at Home Prepaid WiFi Kits under the WiFi2Teach program, and monetary donations benefiting over 11,900 students and teachers.

Globe and TM customers have also supported through Globe Rewards and donated a total of P2.2 million from September 2020 to Q2 of 2021 - P1.15 million of which went to Brigada Eskwela; helping 221,123 students and 5,649 teachers. The remaining P1.05 million went to disaster response, benefiting 30,000 families or 150,000 individuals in 8 provinces across 7 regions.

Through Global Filipino Teachers (GFT) webinars, Globe continues to train educators on digital literacy, parental support on digital learning, responsible online behavior, effective 21st-century approaches to early language literacy, and psychological first aid. GFT recently partnered with DepEd – Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Services for a 14-session webinar series on mental wellness.

Globe strongly supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly UN SDG No. 4 for quality education and UN SDG No. 9 for industry, innovation, and infrastructure. It is also committed to upholding the United Nations Global Compact principles and contributing to 10 UN SDGs.

Locally provides Taguig frontliners with immune-boosting natural juices

In true Bayanihan spirit, NutriAsia provided essential frontliners from Taguig City with Locally Blended Juice Drink.

Medical and non-medical frontliners in Taguig’s checkpoints, vaccination sites, and barangay enjoyed Locally’s blended juice drink, which are made from fruits cultivated by Filipino farmers. The drinks help the frontliners stay hydrated, energized, and protected from illness as they go about their important duties with the juices’ natural vitamin C.

Some residents in Barangay Fort also received Locally Blended juice drink. Recipients include peace and order personnel, emergency & rescue personnel, daycare students, employees of the DSWD barangay base, Health Center Personnel, barangay frontliners, and zone coordinators.

This follows NutriAsia’s donation of boxes of Locally to various hospitals around Metro Manila earlier this month.

“We are truly happy to do our part in ensuring that our brave and dedicated frontliners are hydrated and protected from all illnesses through providing delicious Locally juice drinks that boost their energy and immunity,” said Gretchen King, Category Manager for Beverages at NutriAsia.

“As we donate Locally to our frontliners, we also manage to support our local farm industry, which is key in providing the fruits we use for our drinks.”

The fight against the Covid-19 virus isn’t over. With the invisible enemy still out there, it is still best to arm ourselves with the immunity boost that vitamin C provides.

Locally has been handing out immunity and energy-boosting natural fruit juices to medical personnel, local government units, mobile markets, military staff, mobile kitchens, and more around the metro since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Together, we can all help each other out in healing and rebuilding our nation. Together, we can all help each other out in healing and rebuilding our nation.
