Barlico is wellness in a cup that empowers

Barlico may have been popularly known as a coffee substitute, but this healthy drink is more than just that.

Barlico is made of barley grass from barley plant, which is among the earliest grown sweet grass in the world that traces its history even before 5000 BC, popular among ancient Greeks and Romans. It’s been dubbed as “nature’s best fast food” attributing to its multidimensional health benefits.

Barley is a superfood loaded with vitamins A, B1 (thiamine), B2 (riboflavin), B3 (niacin), B6 folate, as well as vitamin C (ascorbic acid), vitamin E (alpha tocopherol) and vitamin K (phylloquinone).

It also boasts of electrolytes such as phosphorous, magnesium and potassium, along with other essential minerals such as calcium, zinc and iron. Barley is also a provider of powerful antioxidants, essential amino acids, and beneficial enzymes. It also supplies valuable fiber to the body and does not offer any harmful cholesterol.

Barley is one of the most widely consumed cereal grains in the world, with powers to help neutralize the effects of oxygen free radicals produced during energy metabolism. The protective action in barley against these radicals prevents the development of a wide array of diseases caused by oxidative stress, making Barlico an amazing antioxidant and detoxifying drink.

Aside from barley, one cup of Barlico contains healthy superpowers from chicory. Chicory is a woody, herbaceous plant close to lettuce and cabbage that originated in Europe. It has always been regarded for its wealth of health benefits with similar flavors and aroma of coffee. The chicory in Barlico makes a perfect treat in replacement of coffee, without actually getting the bad effects of coffee such as palpitation, stomach upset and acidity. Chicory in Barlico also helps ease digestive problems, as well as significantly improves the balance of blood and plasma in the body, which reduces the chances of cardiovascular diseases.

In the recently held 38th People's Choice Global Peace Prize by Consumers Award Ceremony, Barlico Bagged the Asian Consumers’ Wellness Drink Gold Seal Award from the (NCAF) National Consumers Affairs Foundation. The Golden Seal has recognizes Barlico as the Asian Consumers’ Choice for Best Wellness Drink.

Barlico Cappuccino tastes like your favorite mildly sweetened designer coffee, while Barlico NonDairy Creamer and Sugar has the perfect desirable brew taste. Barlico Hot Chocolate is a good offering for the kids, only it is a lot healthier than your regular choco drink as it is sweet veggies in a cup.

PhilPop Announces Top 30 Semifinalists

PhilPop Foundation announce the Top 30 Semifinalists to this year’s music festival. A non-profit organization led by Chairman Manny V. Pangilinan, PhilPop Foundation reinvents itself this 2018. With the theme “Music. Powered by Pinoys,” and coming from a year-long and nationwide songwriting boot camps in 2017, the foundation adopted a grassroots approach to discover and develop the most talented songwriters in the country, and prepared them for the 2018 songwriting festival.

Numerous aspiring composers across the country submitted song entries to join PhilPop. Over 100 judges – established figures in the music industry, music educators, youth groups, college students, religious communities and advertising executives – screened the songs, narrowing them from a thousand down to 30 entries.

This year’s semifinalists are as diverse as their origins and music genres. PhilPop strongly advocates for song entries written in the vernacular. Some of the entries in the Top 30 were written in Hiligaynon, Bisaya, and other local language. According to PhilPop Executive Director Dinah Remolacio, the “foundation’s pivot to change the format and competition timing was imperative to encourage more songwriters outside Luzon and the greater Metro Manila to join the festival. Embracing the biennial campaign by starting with the songwriting boot camps and then the festival proper was implemented to arm songwriters with knowledge and songwriting essentials that will push them to be confident to showcase their masterpieces, even those written in local language.”

All semifinalists’ entries will be produced by Viva Records, PhilPop 2018’s official record label-partner.

They are also required to undergo an intensive coaching camp on July 23- 24 in Tagaytay City, spearheaded by Maestro Ryan Cayabyab, PhilPop Coaching Camp Master and foundation board member.  He firmly believes that education is the key for the country’s music industry to move forward. According to Mr. C., “The next generation should be better than us hence, the best way to do this is to teach them everything we know at every instance possible.” Having been involved with PhilPop since its inception due to his desire to develop songwriters, he now works together with other music industry stalwarts such as Jazz Nicolas, Ebe Dancel, Trina Belamide, Jonathan Manalo, Wally Acolola, Thyro Alfaro, Yumi Lacsamana and Jungee Marcelo to guide the semifinalists in refining their creations.

From the Top 30 compositions, only ten will make it to the final round. These ten entries will be showcased to the public on November 30 in the PhilPop Festival Finals Night that will be held at Capitol Commons in Pasig City.

PMA heads, officers and guest speakers explained and shared what we can expect at the“The Greatest Marketing Man” during the media conference held at the Green Sun, Chino Roces, Makati City, July 18, 2018.

Conference Rationale

This year’s Marketing Conference revolves around elevating the practice of marketing to a higher level. For the longest time, the marketing environment is being disrupted with changing customer needs given the new digital landscape. New buzzwords and keywords are being floated around: Programmatic advertising, Gen Z, branding 3.0, new media, GDPR, ecommerce, among many others. However, while these new terms are invading the marketing profession and we are left scrambling to understand them and find how they can fit into our business mix, what is being forgotten is the fundamentals of marketing itself.

The conference borrows from the popularity of the Hollywood movie The Greatest Showman, aptly themed “The Greatest Marketing Man”. One hundred speakers internationally and locally have gathered together to share their marketing success framework, their learning and failures, and how they eventually brought their passion, values and beliefs to solve a consumer need and make the world a better place, while being in business in the process. Beyond a learning event, this will also be a perfect opportunity to network with industry leaders, as participants are expected to get up close and personal with the speakers during the breakout sessions.

Arlene Palad Padua, President of Philippine Marketing Association (PMA) 2018.
Conference Objective

Participants are expected to learn from speakers with global perspectives and local success and failure stories that brought about better marketing decision making. They are also expected to go deep dive into specialized marketing fields of interest and learn from experts. It will be a perfect opportunity to network with various stakeholder groups in the marketing ecosystem. Finally, participants are expected to feel refreshed and motivated to do their job after the conference, as the musical execution in nature will ensure that each participant will be highly engaged and involved in the entire conference.

Conference Format

Morning Sessions will be plenary sessions where we get top caliber regional speakers talking about their experience. The non-executive chairman of Air Asia X Dato Tan Sri Radifah Aziz will share her experience in marketing a low cost airline. Filipino mix martial artist champion Brandon Vera will share his journey from being an injured army man to become an MMA champion, and how he is now one of the marketing faces of One Fighting Championship. Flying in from the US just for this conference, Salesforce marketing director Andrew Antal will share how marketing needs to talk to customers on a one-on-one level, and how the right use of CRM tools and social media to engage consumers on a personal level. George Yang on the other side, will provide how he started McDonalds in the Philippines, and how he grew a global brand in the local setting.

Afternoon sessions will be breakout sessions, featuring eight tracks for participants to choose from: Branding, CRM and Loyalty, Digital, Creative and Design, Media, Data and Research Sales and Distribution, and Entrepreneurship. This allows participants to choose their given field of marketing interest and specialization, and also gives them an opportunity to interact with the experts.

Exclusive Globe At Home Plans Now Available To New DMCI Condo Owners

Having a reliable, high-speed internet connection is almost as important as having utilities like water and electricity which are basic needs in a typical Filipino home. Unfortunately, individuals and families who are about to move into their new homes are so busy that they may not have the time to drop by an internet provider’s store to apply for a subscription.

Globe At Home understands this struggle and has found a way to make things more convenient for their customers together with their new partner, DMCI Homes. Now, new condominium owners of DMCI Homes won’t have to brace traffic and long queues as they will have the option to apply for Globe At Home’s exclusive broadband plan during the turnover of their units. This new collaboration aims to make Globe At Home subscription applications easier than ever.

“When you think about it, you want the basic necessities in life, such as water and electricity, ready when you move into your new home. The same thing is now the case with internet — it has become a utility that homeowners need,” said Michelle Marie Fernandez-Castillo, director of Business Development and GTM, Broadband Business of Globe.

“It’s important for owners nowadays to have an internet connection at home so we thought of making it available once they move into their units. And it’s possible now that we have partnered with Globe,” said Jan Venturanza, Assistant Vice President for Marketing, Customer Care and Corporate Planning of DMCI Homes.

The exclusive plan will be available for these DMCI Homes projects: The Birchwood and Ivory Wood in Taguig City,Asteria Residences in Parañaque City, and Lumiere Residences and Sheridan Towers in Pasig City.
