Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao's return against Yordenis Ugás live on SKY Pay-Per-View

Catch the bout in high-definition and commercial-free in the comfort of your homes for only P750

Relive Pacquiao's greatest fights until August 21

The coveted WBA super welterweight title is at stake as the former eight-division champion Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao makes his boxing return, this time against Yordenis Ugás in "Pacquiao vs. Ugás" which will air live from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on August 22 (Sunday) at 9 AM on SKY Pay-Per-View.

Following his split-decision win against Keith Thurman for the WBA super welterweight championship in 2019, Pacquiao is out to make Pinoys proud anew in his boxing comeback after a two-year hiatus with another fight in his tank at the age of 42. With a record of 62W-7L-2D (39 wins by KO), the former eight-division champion and best pound-for-pound fighter aims to reclaim the prestigious title.

But his next title shot may push him to the limits as he goes toe-to-toe against another veteran fighter in Cuban slugger Yordenis Ugás, holding a 26-4 slate (12 wins by KO) with Pacquiao's vacated belt under his waist after an impressive win against Abel Ramos in 2020.

Will Pacquiao shake off the ring rust and take back the title? Or will Ugás prove himself to be a worthy opponent by beating one of the greatest boxers of all time?

Find out who will emerge victorious between the two prized fighters as SKY Pay-Per-View brings to Pinoy audiences "Pacquiao vs. Ugás" live directly from the boxing capital of the world, Las Vegas, Nevada, on August 22 at 9 AM, with same-day replays at 3 and 7 PM and the following day at 7 PM. Catch the bout in high-definition and commercial-free in the comfort of your homes for only P750.

Plus, upon availing of its pay-per-view pass, Pacquiao fans can relive his greatest fights, including Pacquiao vs. Barrera, Pacquiao vs. Marquez I, Pacquiao vs. Dela Hoya, Pacquiao vs. Hatton, and Pacquiao vs. Mosley on loop until August 21.

Mayweather vs. Pacquiao on May 2, 2015, is a done deal

What the world has been waiting for has arrived. Floyd Mayweather, Manny Pacquiao agree to May 2 fight.

Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao will finally face one another in the ring on May 2 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao will finally give boxing the mega-fight fans and observers have craved for years after it was announced on Friday that the pair will face off for unified welterweight championship on May 2 at Las Vegas's MGM Grand Garden Arena.
Floyd Mayweather posted a picture showing the signed contract on Friday night. Photograph: Floyd Mayweather
As part of the agreement for what will be the most lucrative showdown in fight history, Mayweather made the announcement via his account on the social media web site Shots.com, bringing to an end years of frustration and conjecture that seemed destined to keep the sport's two highest-profile athletes apart.

"This is the right fight for boxing," Pacquiao said in a statement. "Floyd Mayweather and I is the fight boxing fans have wanted for years and I am looking forward to it. I will be representing my fans and my country and trying to bring glory to the Philippines."

There were countless stumbling blocks in the way of the fight, which was first discussed as far back as 2009 and fell apart on several occasions over issues such as drug testing, the fractious relationship between the two promotional camps and simple stubbornness.

The failure to bring together the two most marketable mainstream stars of recent times was increasingly becoming a black mark on the sport, and there had been so many false dawns that most boxing fans had become resigned to the bout never taking place.

However, negotiations steadily picked up pace since end of last year and overcame a major hurdle when rival cable companies Showtime (which has an exclusive deal with Mayweather) and HBO (which broadcasts Pacquiao fights) agreed to a split arrangement whereby both could sell the contest on pay per view.

"Everyone involved, including Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao, knows this fight simply had to happen. All of us are thrilled to be able to deliver this event to boxing fans around the world. Now, for the second time under his current deal with Showtime Networks, Floyd Mayweather has agreed to fight an opponent that many people thought he'd never face.

Ken Hershman, the President, HBO Sports said: "Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather have been the two most prominent fighters in the sport of boxing for the past decade, and fight fans around the world have been clamoring for them to face each other... May 2nd will be a signature moment for the sport of boxing and HBO Sports is thrilled to be a part of this spectacular event."

Mayweather will go into the fight as favorite, yet it can safely be considered by far his toughest test in recent times. He turns 38 next week, while Pacquiao is 36, and while neither man is at his peak, it is without question the most compelling match-up boxing has to offer.

People all around the world are looking forward to another record-breaking performance this coming May. This grand fight will make history on May 2nd.

“The Filipino Flash” Donaire hungy for a win in featherweight fury

ABS-CBN will air Top Rank Promotion’s “Featherweight Fury” which will be held at the Cotai Arena of The Venetian Macao in a special telecast of the brawl between Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire and the WBA Featherweight Champion Simpiwe Vetyeka on Sunday (June 1) at 10:15 AM.

Donaire promised to bring the beauty of boxing to Macao in his battle against the South African champion who reportedly handpicked the Donaire to be his opponent.

Veteran boxing analyst Atty. Ed Tolentino said in an interview on ABS-CBN Sports+Action's "The Score" that Vetyeka is a “hungry champion” and wants to beat a high-profile boxer like Donaire.

However, Donaire is equally hungry to prove himself after losing the championship to Guillermo Rigondeaux and an underwhelming non-title fight against Vic Darchinyan. In an interview with TV Patrol two days before the fight, Donaire said he feels good and has had no problem trimming down to the weight limit.

The “Featherweight Fury” will feature two other featherweight title fights between Nicholas “The Axe Man” Walters versus Vic “Raging Bull” Darchinyan, and Evgeny “The Mexican Russian” Gradovich versus Alexander Miskirtchian.

Prior to the fight, get up-close and personal with “The Filipino Flash” as ABS-CBN Sports+Action airs the replay of “Donaire: Flash and Fire” on Saturday (May 31) at 12 PM.

In the “Featherweight Fury” press conference held in Manila, Donaire admitted that one of his preparations involved going back to his roots, choosing to train in the Philippines and having his father – the man who introduced Donaire to the world of boxing – to train him for his bout.

“Donaire: Flash and Fire” gives a clearer look at what makes 3-time world champion Nonito Donaire a world-class boxer. While his training and experience inside the ring has prepared him physically for Vetyeka, Donaire’s experiences outside the ring – from being bullied as a boy, to the well-publicized spat with his father, Nonito Sr., to his life as a family man – made him mentally strong to battle and overcome the challenges that come his way.

Also, make way for “Donaire vs Vetyeka Primer” on ABS-CBN Sports+Action also on Saturday (May 31) at 1 PM where boxing experts throw interesting analyses of the upcoming fight and review Donaire and Vetyeka’s previous boxing bouts.

Catch Donaire: Flash and Fire” on Saturday (May 31) at 12 PM followed by “Donaire vs Vetyeka Primer” at 1 PM to prepare for the special telecast of ABS-CBN “Featherweight Fury” on Sunday (June 1) at 10:15 AM and its replay on ABS-CBN Sports+Action also on Sunday (June 1) at 7 PM.

Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire's Featherweight Title Match airs at Abs-Cbn

Watchout for the special telecast of “Featherweight Fury” on ABS-CBN Channel 2. Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire Jr. will showcase an improved and more focused version of himself as ABS-CBN airs the special telecast of Top Rank Promotion’s “Featherweight Fury” event held in Cotai Arena at The Venetian Macao-Resort-Hotel on Sunday (June 1) at 10:15 AM.

Donaire (32-2) will challenge World Boxing Association (WBA) featherweight champion Simpiwe “V12” Vetyeka (26-2) to co-headline three featherweight title fights in the return of Top Rank to Macao.

Not only is Donaire physically ready after going back to his roots, inviting his father who introduced him to boxing as his new trainer, his loss to Guillermo Rigondeaux and close fight against Vic Darchinyan has given him renewed purpose as a boxer.
“The second fight with Darchinyan made me realize that I wanted to be here,” said the 31-year-old Filipino in a recently held press conference. “With injuries in my body and injuries on my face, I still realized that I want to do this. This is what I want to do. I live for the joy of people watching me and that’s why I want to be here. I want to give everything that I’ve got for my fans and for my country and for the people that love boxing.”

“Featherweight Fury” will also feature the battle between champion Nicholas “Axe Man” Walters and Vic “Raging Bull” Darchinyan (39-6-1) for the WBA interim featherweight and Evgeny “The Mexican Russian” Gradovich’s (18-0) International Boxing Federation (IBF) featherweight title defense against Alexander Miskirtchian (24-2-1).

Catch the special telecast of “Featherweight Fury” on ABS-CBN Channel 2 in the morning of Sunday (June 1) at 10:15 AM and watch out for the same-day replay with the undercard fights on ABS-CBN Sports+Action at 7 PM. Boxing fans can also watch the entire fight live via Skycable Pay-Per-View.

“Manny” The Movie

“Manny”

“By the end of the film, I want people to feel like they know him as just Manny. Not Congressman Pacquiao, not the People’s Champion, not the boxer with 10 world titles, but the guy who you could be on a first name basis with because you feel him. Be it a boxing legend, icon, politician, religious leader, or father, I ultimately want Pacquiao to be known as Manny, the man.” - - - Ryan Moore

After making waves at the South by Southwest Festival in Austin Texas, where it made its world premiere, Filipino fans finally had the chance to watch MANNY, a documentary about the Filipino boxing champion.

Manny is the untold story of Manny Pacquiao, one of the most celebrated boxers to ever enter the ring since Muhammad Ali. It chronicles the inspirational tale of how one penniless kid rose from poverty to become one of boxing’s most revered icons.

Relive some of his greatest matches, and rivalries as he moves up the ranks and takes his place in history as the only boxer to become an eight division champion.

Sourced from over 1200 hours of video footage Pacquiao generously shared with Producer/Director Ryan Moore, the movie likewise provides an in-depth look into Pacquiao’s personal life not only as a boxer, superstar, Congressman, and man of faith, but above all, a man.

Narrated by Liam Neeson and filled with insightful and sometimes humorous interviews with Hollywood celebrities such as Mark Wahlberg, Jimmy Kimmel, Jeremy Piven, etc. you don’t need to be a fan of boxing or even Pacquiao himself to enjoy this well-made narrative of triumph against unbelievable odds.

Catch Manny in its limited theatrical run until Tuesday in cinemas nationwide.

Manny is distributed by Solar Entertainment Corporation.

Mark Barriga wins Olympic Debut

'LITTLE PACQUIAO' as he is called now, the Philippines' lone boxing Olympic bet Mark Anthony Barriga wins Olympic debut.

Little Pacquiao came up big for the Philippines. Light flyweight Mark Barriga easily handled Italy's Manuel Cappai in the opening bout for the only Filipino boxer in London, earning a 17-7 victory. Barriga's one-sided win was an encouraging result for a strong boxing nation with little recent history of amateur success.
The 19-year-old Barriga trained in Manny Pacquiao's camp to prepare for the Olympics, earning the nickname "Little Pacquiao" in the Filipino media. The 5-foot-2 slugger's potent punching power suggests he was taking notes from the beloved Filipino congressman.

Barriga knows the coming days would be tougher and that his journey toward an Olympic gold medal here would not be easy.

“This is just one victory, it’s still a long way to go,” said Mark, the 19-year-old Panabo City pug shortly after his 17-7 triumph over Italy’s Manual Cappai in the first round of their men’s boxing’s light flyweight match on Monday. His triumph was witnessed by his parents, Edgar and Melita, whom Barriga credited for inspiring him to do his best in his Olympic debut.

The 16-year-old Filipino/Mexican-American Idol runner-up Jessica Sanchez will sing the National Anthem on June 9, when Filipino boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao collides with unbeaten American boxing sensation Timothy Bradley at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Manny Pacquiao-Timothy Bradley bout in Las Vegas on Saturday (Sunday in Manila).

In her official Twitter account, Sanchez shared her excitement to be part of the most-awaited event.
"Singing the American National Anthem @ the Pacquiao fight this Saturday in Vegas! I am sooooooooo ecstatic!! :)," Sanchez tweeted.

Team Pacquiao had earlier had with the idea of Sanchez singing the Philippine national anthem but, as it turns out, Sanchez will be singing "The Star Spangled Banner" prior to the fight. The report revealed that "Filipino-American teenage singer, 14-year old Broadway talent Kirby Asunto, will sing the 'Lupang Hinirang' for the fight."

Manny Pacquiao camp: No fight with Mayweather on May 5

Manny Pacquiao's camp says there is no economic sense in setting up a bout with Floyd Mayweather on May 5 after the unbeaten American publicly challenged the Filipino champion via Twitter.

Pacquiao's financial adviser Michael Koncz told The Associated Press on Thursday that a 45,000-seat boxing arena being built in Las Vegas won't be finished before the end of May and staging the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight in a much smaller venue is "foolish from an economic standpoint."

Mayweather challenged and taunted Pacquiao to a May 5 bout in a tweet on Tuesday. Mayweather had said: 'Manny Pacquiao I'm calling you out let's fight May 5th and give the world what they want to see.'

"I'll fight you but not on May 5", says Pacquiao as he responds to Mayweather challenge.

Regarded as the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world, Mayweather has the MGM Grand Garden booked for that date and must fight before June 1 after a judge agreed to postpone his jail sentence for domestic violence.

But while the MGM Grand seats 17,000, which could generate around $20 million in sales, the larger arena could raise an additional $30 million. And Pacquiao's financial adviser Michael Koncz said: 'Why would I tell Manny to fight on the 5th and throw away a percentage of 30 million? That's crazy.

'The purse is not the issue right now, the date is. But we don't have a problem splitting it 50-50.'

Mayweather continued his efforts to tempt the current WBO welterweight champion into the ring on Wednesday when he tweeted: 'I'm ready to put my belt up. What about you Manny Pacquiao? Let's make history.'

Meanwhile, Top Rank promoter Bob Arum is confident the fight can still happen before Mayweather begins his stretch in prison.

He said the fight 'could happen very, very easily' at the end of May, enough time to build the outdoor arena 'the fight so badly needs'.

A decision could yet be reached this week as Arum and Pacquiao are meeting in the Philippines this week. Arum has suggested his fighter could meet Juan Manuel Marquez, Miguel Cotto, Tim Bradley or Amir Khan's conqueror Lamont Peterson instead of Mayweather. The pair hope to reach an agreement before Arum returns to the United States on Saturday.
