#OneAgainstCOVID19: Donate to Philippine Red Cross, UNICEF, Caritas Manila, Oxfam Pilipinas, and others through PayMaya

Now you can donate to various charitable foundations and humanitarian agencies mobilizing relief and response efforts against COVID-19 through PayMaya's digital payments platform. The one-stop digital donation facility that can be accessed online or in-app is part of #OneAgainstCOVID19 drive that PayMaya launched with various partners to help raise funds for frontliners and the most vulnerable communities affected by the pandemic.

“In this time of great and urgent need, coming together in the traditional spirit of bayanihan becomes ever more important so that no one gets left behind. This #OneAgainstCOVID19 harnesses the power of collaboration and digital payments as we fight this global pandemic,” said PayMaya Founder and CEO Orlando B. Vea.

By visiting the #OneAgainstCOVID19 page in the PayMaya website (http://donate.paymaya.com) or going to the Pay Bills section of the PayMaya app, Filipinos can choose from a variety of charitable organizations to support with causes that range from providing medical front liners with meals and personal protective equipment to giving relief and medical packages to communities, among many others. Recipient beneficiaries, meanwhile, will be able to receive the donations through PayMaya's platforms.

Anyone from around the world can go to the #OneAgainstCOVID19 website and donate using their credit, debit, or prepaid card. This means that even overseas Filipinos can pitch in for the various efforts. Online donation acceptance using a Philippine mobile number with a PayMaya account through Pay with PayMaya is also available. For PayMaya account holders, donating via the Pay Bills section of the PayMaya app or by scanning a partner's PayMaya QR online is the fastest way to support #OneAgainstCOVID19 causes.

Partner organizations raising funds through the platform include the Philippine Red Cross, which is seeking donations for different aid packages that will be given to medical front liners and communities affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

UNICEF, on the other hand, is calling for donations to provide critical, medical and sanitation supplies for health facilities, as well as educating children and families on proper handwashing, providing parents with home-based educational activities for children and psychosocial support through counselling.

For Oxfam Pilipinas, proceeds will go to helping ensure that poor families have access to water, sanitation and hygiene items to protect their health, and help them recover from the effects of COVID-19—particularly those who lost their livelihood or income during the community quarantine period.

Caritas Manila is calling for cash donations to provide Caritas LIGTAS COVID-19 kits and Caritas Manna food bags to poor communities, families, and the elderly in Metro Manila, who are the most vulnerable during these difficult times.

Other #OneAgainstCOVID19 partner organizations that Filipinos can choose to donate to include the Philippine Business for Social Progress, Kaya Natin! Movement for Good Governance and Ethical Leadership, Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation, TV5's Alagang Kapatid Foundation, PLDT-Smart Foundation, and #nowheretogobutUP, among others.

One big effort vs. COVID-19

In launching the effort, PayMaya underscored the need for a multi-sectoral, concerted push that will help support the various front liners in the effort to curb the spread of the COVID-19 disease, as well as alleviate the plight of those living in vulnerable communities. As it makes its digital financial platforms available for the #OneAgainstCOVID19 advocacy campaign, PayMaya is working with its partner merchants, Smart Padala agents, and employees to campaign for the cause.

#FightCOVID19 : Caritas Manila To Provide Ligtas COVID-19 Kits to Poor Families in Metro Manila

The entire Luzon is now under Enhanced Community Quarantine (Lockdown) from March 17 to April 12, suspending all means of public transportation.

President Rodrigo Duterte made the announcement in a televised address from Malacañang.

Everyone is advised to stay inside their homes as the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases intensify its efforts to identify and isolate confirmed Covid-19 cases.

Many poor families in Metro Manila, even before the declaration of the Community Quarantine, are already unable to purchase food and basic protection needs against COVID-19. More than the virus, they’re afraid that the lockdown will deprive them of livelihood.

“We won’t last a month here. We won’t even last a few days if my husband doesn’t earn a living,” a woman living in Baseco, Tondo Manla said in an interview.

In response to this crisis, Caritas Manila, the lead social service arm of the Archdiocese of Manila, launched the LIGTAS COVID-19 campaign. This aims to provide Caritas Ligtas COVID-19 kits and Caritas Manna food bags to 6,000 poor families in Metro Manila.

The 2000 Pesos Caritas LIGTAS COVID-19 kit for a family of 5 includes:

1 liter of 70% ethyl alcohol
5 handy bottles of 30 ml alcohol
5 washable face masks
1 liter of antibacterial liquid soap
1 box of 100 tablets of vitamin C with zinc
A pair of reusable gloves
1 liter of liquid bleach
3 pieces of cleaning cloth
Eco bag

The 700 Pesos worth of Caritas Manna bag to the family contains:

5 kilos of rice
munggo beans
9 assorted canned goods
2 packs of Caritas Margins kalabasa/malunggay noodles
1/4 pack of sugar and salt
Eco bag

Joining this campaign is now made even easier with GCash. Simply scan the QR code below in your GCash app and you can donate as low as 1 peso to help protect the poor from COVID-19.

The crisis has affected our country and there is no other way to #FightCOVID19 than to live out the Filipino spirit of Bayanihan. No one should be left behind.

Buy and Give through #CaritasExpo2 at Glorietta

Buy and Give 2 through Caritas Manila’s Expo at Glorietta

The Social Entrepreneurship Program of Caritas Manila will hold the second-run of a Grand Expo dubbed “Buy and Give Expo 2”on November 28-30, 2014 at the Glorietta Activity Center, Palm Drive, Makati City.

Caritas Manila’s Social Entrepreneurship Program helps the livelihood of poor communities by encouraging the entrepreneurial spirit and marketing their products. This program is providing skills and training to the urban poor communities and marginalized sector as well as honing them to become social entrepreneurs. Caritas Margins and Segunda Mana are two of the programs under Social Entreprise.

The first expo was held last year, November 29, 30 and December 1, 2013 at the TriNoma Mall in Quezon City.

Buy and Give Expo 2 will showcase products made by social entrepreneurs. It aims to raise funds to help sustain the social enterprise and other pro-poor programs of Caritas Manila.

The Expo will sell products which are 100% made by marginalized communities in Metro Manila and provinces, such as gift items, accessories and personal care products made by urban poor families. It will also offer artworks made by residents of the National Bilibid Prison and pre-loved items and inventories generously shared by the benefactors and corporate partners of Caritas Manila.

The Expo is dubbed as BUY and GIVE because every product enables the buyer to GIVE and SHARE in 3 ways:

-   First, the buyer generates income for the producer from the marginalized community or sector.

-  Second, part of the income is plowed back to Caritas Manila to sustain its pro-poor programs, specifically the Skills and Livelihood Training and the Youth Servant Leadership and Education Programs.

-  Third, the buyer gets high-quality products at friendly prices for his personal use or as gift to people he cares about.

Come to Caritas Manila’s BUY & GIVE EXPO 2 for good finds at reasonable prices. Shopping has never been this indulgent to the heart.

This coming November 29 till December 1, Caritas Manila will hold its anniversary expo in the activity center of Ayala Trinoma Mall in Quezon City.

Buy and Give through Caritas Manila’s Expo at the Trinoma as they celebrates 60 Years of Living Faith in its Social Mission. This year’s anniversary expo will feature and showcase products made by social entrepreneurs via Caritas Manila’s own social enterprise: Caritas Margins and Segunda Mana.
This event aims to raise funds to help sustain the pro-poor programs of Caritas Manila.

The products sold in the BUY and GIVE EXPO are made by the poor communities and from the marginalized sector currently being supported by Caritas Manila.

Art pieces are made by residents from National Bilibid Prison, gift items, accessories, and personal care products made by urban poor families, pre-loved items and inventories from our benefactors and corporate partners are just some of the products showcased in this Expo.

This is dubbed as BUY and GIVE because for every product you BUY, you actually GIVE to someone in need.

These are the 3 ways:

1st – the item one buys gives income to the producer of the product from the poor community/marginalized sector;

2nd – part of the revenues will be plowed back to help sustain Caritas Manila’s pro-poor programs, specifically on Skills and Livelihood Training and Youth Servant Leadership and Education Programs; and

3rd – buying the product is giving to oneself or for someone else to appreciate.

Supporting important causes can be easy to forget amid the hustle and bustle of shopping during the holiday season. Here's an easy way to give back to those in need while you find the gifts you need.

Come and join Caritas Manila’s BUY & GIVE EXPO on  you can find things at reasonable prices as helping uplift other peoples’ lives.
Caritas Manila is the leading social arm of the Archdiocese of Manila and the integrator of the Church social services and development in Metro Manila.

Segunda Mana, a special Donation-in-kind program of Caritas Manila where it promotes the joy of giving to help those who are in need by donating items that are no longer needed used or unused, have too much of or about to throw away which have value and may be sold. It also promotes Reducing, Re-Using, and Recycling.

Caritas Margins, “Margins” from the word “marginalized”, refers to groups who are neglected, deprived and ignored and these are people who are poor.

Caritas Margin is a Skills Training Program of Caritas Manila which conducts various trainings such as: Crafting fashion accessories, production of herbal soaps, perfume, medicinal ointments and homecare products and food processing & commercial cooking.

One great Saturday I was in Caritas Manila, Pandacan attending briefing about Caritas Manila Social Development Programs. For the past years, I have been a part of Caritas Manila advocacies. At present, I felt so great that I am invited to see the Caritas Manila/s Segunda Mana's Store, warehouse and Caritas Margins production facilities.

Caritas Manila executive director Fr. Anton C.T. Pascual shared us the mission and vision of the Caritas Manila.
Caritas Manila's mission is to empower the poor towards total human development, build caring and sharing communities among the youth and families and enable the growth and development of servant leadership. Caritas Manila have developmental programs for the sectors of education, preventive health, and livelihood to help the poor, and continuously strive to help the poor help themselves.

Caritas Manila bring people together with the hearts of service, caring and sharing. The Archdiocese organized a social welfare for uplifting the spirit and soul of unfortunate members in community for food, clothing and medicines for distribution among our poor brethren, and the education of their children.

I remember things about Jesus, as He had a special sense of mission to poor. And Mother Teresa's great passion for poor came from her great passion for Jesus. I believe that Jesus Christ set an example for us to walk on, "Love your neighbor" when asked to define neighbor as He expanded to anyone who is in need.

This is a chance for you to give back to your community in a way that's meaningful to you. Your heart and innovative spirit needed to make the world a better place.

As simply you can be part of their mission. For donations inquiry, you can contact Caritas Segunda Mana via: segundamana@caritasmanila.org.ph and cm@caritasmanila.org.ph and Tel No: 564-0205, 562-0020 to 25 or Text: 09298343857
